Growing up in the 70s watching shows like
Ain't half hot mum
Rising damp
On the busses
Alf garnet
Carry on films
I could go on and on... the tvs were full of humour and folk in general seemed a lot happier back then
I was a kid maybe it's Rose tinted glasses but even on the building sites and the pubs in the 80s you couldn't go an hour without hearing a joke that would be whispered today
It is what it is...
When I was a kid it wasn't racism ( even if it probably was by today's standards ) it was fun... and god the world is short of that nowStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bronco and Tony Wilkinson like this. -

The system is the same for all - its all about appeal. UKIP would have gotten 100 seats in 2015 if PR and I dont remember the left crying about that...Bronco and Tony Wilkinson like this. -

I worked with a Sikh some years ago-great lad with a wicked sense of humour.
One day he came out with two one liners which cracked me up
They were:
He said my brother works in the Circus as a trapeze artist -Balan Singh
And my other brother is a karaoke singer-Gerrupta Singh
Would these be classed as offensive/racist if I had said them to him?Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Wakefield Bantam and Tony Wilkinson like this. -

Blatant racism, sexism, etc isn't acceptable. But we live in a society of absolute wet wipes and there doesn't seem to be any balance. I mean, you cant even discuss immigration without these loony, hysterical lefties screaming racism at you....Rogered Tart and Tony Wilkinson like this. -

"The man's a ni..." Is hilarious. "Stand back or the nigger gets it" (spoken by a black man pointing a gun at himself) is hilarious.

I've actually just started watching it again because searching for those clips reminded me of the brilliance if it. They actually have white characters say n****** twice and fa****t within the first 5 minutes. I find it quite interesting how you initially remembered it as a much more sanitised version. To say the dialogue are not currently taboo is clearly wrong
I'm sure there would be an audience for it now but there would also be an ENORMOUS amount of criticism of it if it was made in the modern area because a lot of people make a point of taking offence and lose any idea of nuance or context.Bronco and Rogered Tart like this. -
I knew it was going downhill when they stopped the golliwog badges you could collect with the marmalade jars,

To you it obviously isn't and I respect that. Just because something isn't acceptable anymore doesn't mean people aren't allowed to find it amusing. We don't as yet have "thought police".
