Actually to be fair, just read the article again, and neither the club or Adams name him. The Derry Times actually name him. Adams just says they are chasing a target in Ireland but face competition. Its obviously him though

    Our next Lee Mills?!

I noticed he scores with his left, his right, and his head!

On another note, it’s very unusual for Adams to name players. He normally keeps his cards close to his chest. Why has he named him this time?

*edit - just seen @Idlebantam@Idlebantam ’s post above.

Ah well, that's this seasons Kieffer Moore type of link done and dusted.....

Let's put aside the idea of a prolific goalscorer being tempted to turn down the Danish Prem, Scottish Prem, Dutch leagues, even the league above ours in that faint hope Del Boy has some pull... and swiftly get back in our lane and talk about a lad in Darlington. The good old Bradford transfer window way.

DA: “fans seem to be getting restless due to the fact our signings are taking a little slower than expected. One of the lads we’ve signed already seems to be a crock. Our rivals are signing players left right and centre. What can we do?”
RS: “my owners manual says that we should go to the media, and tell them that a good player, out of our league and highly likely too skilled for our club, is on our radar. We’ll tell them that it’s probable we can’t match the wages he’s after, but we’re hoping he’ll come to us because we’re a massive club, and much more attractive than the clubs that are offering much more money and the proposition of playing in a league or two higher. So when he signs for them, despite us never actually putting in a bid, we can say we tried our best, but can’t compete with these former mining town clubs and good luck to the lad. Should get the fans off our backs, as they fell for it before. What do you think Stefan?”
SR (via zoom). “When does the transfer window close?”

I see Salford have just signed Matt Smith from Millwall and in the past Leeds. That is a good signing. He will cause defences trouble

Last night Bowyer put on another masterclass of his, went to Port Vale(who have been doing some business this Jan) and the possession stat was 62% v 38% in Vale's favour, 17 attempts to 3 in Vale's favour with 3 on target against Salford's paltry 1.
But Salford nicked a one nil away win.
You wouldn't want to watch that every week.

You hit the nail on the head here "These players specifically moved after their academy years". That means they were picked up early because they were good. This bloke is well past his academy years so if he was really good enough to be Championship, don't you think he would have been picked up 5 or 10 years ago ?

He might well be the next Eoin Doyle, but Doyle had played nearly 200 games in Ireland & Scotland before he was picked up by an English club and even then that was only Chesterfield.

Let see if he does sign for us or for a higher team before we wet our pants over him. The League of Ireland is a part time league with the average wage being 16,000 euros. Football is the fourth most watched sport in Ireland behind Hurling, Gaelic & Rugby Union. Hell, more people from Dublin fly to Manchester to watch football than their own league.

Basically this lad is playing at the same level as Charman and I doubt he's anywhere near Championship level.

Would he ? Balance two years at Rovrum on £2k a week then released and back to Irish semi professional football having played half a dozen times to £1k a week with us, smash league Two and then get a move up the leagues ?

I'd say league two is the better option for someone coming from a league that is about on a par with the League of Wales or Northern Premier League.

With respect General, The league of Ireland he has been playing in is a lot better quality than Darlo's league, that's for sure.

You misunderstood mate, I said they moved AFTER their academy years.

In other words, they were picked from the Irish leagues as senior players NOT kids that were then developed in England.

    Yep hence 'both Irish leagues'.

In my opinion ROI is a higher level than NI.

Is it though ? I suppose it's like the age old question of how good is the SPL. Many would have it ranking with the Championship, many say it's about the same as League One.

    Who knows ?
