Yes, he came back for a few games, put the minimum amount of effort in and we sold him to Swindon as we had no option.
I think that was the Guthrie window.
With Young, we have the option to sell him to other clubs.

If we do sell him, how much of the that will go towards covering ‘sustainable business costs’?

if GA isnt given the transfer money to strengthen we may as well make him his second club of the season?

i guess they might pay off a few lads too given the squad is anything lean and mean, though.

It will give him room to get some of the deadwood out and get some quality in.
It might depend how many points we are off the play-offs, come January.
If we're 10 points off we might as well keep the money for next season's budget.

Ridehalgh, McDonald, Osadebe and Derbyshire would be the first realistic players id be looking to get off the books.

Id also send back all 4 loans too.

Id then argue a case for Odusina and Young returning to fill some voids while adding 2 or 3 additions.

Could you see KMc being involved in the coaching side?

That’s because Swindon utilised his considerable talent correctly, unlike us. We insisted on playing him as a back to goal target man instead of as the fox in the box goal poacher that he so obviously was. It was madness. No wonder he was unhappy.

He was scoring for fun as a goal poacher at Swindon. We recalled him and again completely misused him as a target man. Hardly surprising that he was unhappy and unmotivated.

Keeping Richards is a certainty. He's our player, and based on Saturdays performance, showed a lot of promise in a wing back role

Of course he was totally uninterested. He’d been recalled from a club that were playing to his strengths back to being completely misused again. Anyone in that situation would be massively pissed off.

He downed tools to get what he wanted.
    Young will do likewise.

What did you expect Doyle to do? Suddenly grow four inches to start winning flick on headers against tall centre backs? Completely re-model his natural game to transform himself into a back to goal target man overnight? Run around like a blue-arsed fly chasing lost causes outside the box when all his expertise was as a close range finisher? We had the lower league Gary Lineker but played him as though he was James Hanson. It was completely nuts.

The Young situation is different. We’d be recalling him to play him in his proper position as a striker. Also, he clearly fell out with Hughes but we now have a different manager who appears to be capable of getting improved performances out of players (eg Smallwood) who were obviously not happy under Hughes. That’s different from Doyle, who was recalled under the same manager that misused him beforehand.

You have no way of knowing that Young would down tools. That’s a massive supposition on your part.

Totally agree except , he does have “ form” for downing tools, irrespective of the reason. I assume that’s why he made the comment.

Agree. I think we have a similar situation with Young, Hughes unwilling to try and play him in his preferred position. Don’t know anything about the alleged row, but we can speculate that it was out of frustration. He was then consigned to training only, and not part of the squad.

Dunno if anyone else caught it, but it came up on my Youtube feed whilst doing some housework over the weekend and it's The Overlap. Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher discuss whatever is going on in the game. Last weeks was mainly about Everton, with the chief reporter from The Athletic joining in discuss the financial issues at Everton and the spending issues in the prem and how they can go about it in future.

Anyway, GN talks about the difference in PL and L2 rules and explains how sustainability in L2 works. At the start of each season, you have to produce your teams business plan for the season and explain how much you can spend comparative to your revenue from last season and if you plan on spending extra money on players throughout the season. If you do, you have to disclose the amount you can spend at the start of the season and if there's a shortfall from your actual spend compared to what you disclosed to the EFL at the start of the season, the owner has to put in that shortfall of cash otherwise the EFL will stop you signing players. Not something I've ever heard of before? Wonder if it was something introduced when they brought in the caps a season or two back? They did say all 4 professional divisions have completely different sustainability rules.

Do you actually know that he will come back and cause problems.
If the main problem for his poor attitude is gone then maybe you may actually see a different person.
Maybe Alexander has already had words with him going forward.
If his attitude was wrong fair enough but there aint half a fair few making vibes about Hughes and his training methods
