It certainly sounds like they have some commercial challenges. And yet, they haven’t endured the slide in footballing terms we have over the last few years, so clearly they’re doing something more effective than we’ve been doing in that sense. It’s kind of moot anyway, I want us to be aspiring to be the best run club in this league, not comparing ourselves at the lower end of the scale. And in Jake Youngs case, it’s a move that’s clearly working. I see no reason for him to come back here, from his point of view.

I have some sympathy with your view, but our experience of having a player go to Swindon and do really well is negative. We brought Doyle back and he did absolutely bugger all for the rest of the season. That is no good for this club the last thing GA wants is a player who sulks, it is destructive to team cohesion.

 

Jake Young and I can see a CB and a CM coming in.

Spot on. These players are human beings, and what they think and want matters, just as it does in any work place. The key question is, where is Jake Young’s head? If he can reasonably be persuaded to come back here and earn his place, then let’s crack on. But if he’s very much against it, then digging our heels in and and bringing him back ‘because he’s under contract’ and demanding he produces would be both awful management and ridiculously naive. So we’d probably do it.

 

I'm not having any of this nonsense of don't call Young back because it might upset him rubbish, he's our player and under contract which he willingly signed, anyhow I'd recall him first opportunity and give him a few games in January to see how he reacts and you never know he may instantly click with GA plus bag a couple of goals and Swindon will be a distant memory. Me and my lad both always thought he looked like a good player when given a go by MH but something obviously happened between them both which clearly messed his head up and resulted in negatively affecting his consistency/training etc.

He wasnt playing in a system that suited here. Vaughan also fell out with Bowyer and was moved on? Criminal how we couldnt get goals out of those two and Clayton.

We need to make sure Young will suit our new 5-3-2 system if we are planning on recalling him. You’d think alexander would want to work with him. A forward worth hundreds of thousands and he can get him into a team shy of scoring for a nominal cost for terminating the loan.

i must admit i was ‘meh’ when he went out on loan and I thought his goals would dry up after his explosive start, but he’s proving the doubters, like me, all wrong.
