Everyone of those players bar Jones either played or went on to play at a higher level, some talent there. And bar Wells none of them our own so to speak. All brought in to the club.

I think a lot of credit has to go to Lee Turnbull tbh. I can't believe we haven't had anyone doing this before.
A manager's job coaching a team and preparing them for the next game is absolutely a full time job. They do not have the time to scout players and be calling around agents, especially in January. Everyone just needs to be on the same page on recruitment strategy.

Because the rookies arent stubborn and are probably willing to learn from others past mistakes. It scores well with the fans too.

Theres a reason McCall,Bowyer,Hopkin etc will be lower league managers their entire careers.

 

We have approached transfers differently have we not and started the process before the last manager left. Just shows why you can do with a more considered and professional approach. Penny pinching / lack of money or attempting to balance the books have negatively affected our transfer dealings over a number of seasons.

 

To be fair to Stuart Sparks said the other day that a couple of seasons ago we were nearly out of business but now we are in a much better position financially

Have Turnbull, Trueman, Sellars and Sparks been watching 'Moneyball' on repeat? There seems to be a really different feel and intent to these signings and loans. No square pegs in round holes. Players who specifically do one or two things really well in their best, given positions. I'm liking this.

 

What intent? We’ve signed one senior pro and 4 players who are unproven. Hardly setting the world alight are we?

Realistically, we've upgraded BRE for Canavan - but that's about it.

At the moment, believe it or not, we're probably weaker than we were in December, although the winger from Leeds is a bit of an X factor.
