Graveyard for strikers?

I could run through a list as long as my arm of the competent central midfielders we've denounced as crap, in fact, I think defenders on the whole are the only ones coming out of this club with any credit whatsoever!

 

TBF you named 5 from 15 years. And apart from Stead that is pretty much it.

 

Why? To tell them they are correct? A few wins over the last few games doesnt change the last 3/4 years.

Two months ago we gave our manager an 18 month deal and sacked him a week or two later.

How many stand out central midfielders have we had? Or center backs? Bet you struggle to name more than 5 too. We have been at the arse end of the league for most of it

 

No, not today, not until summer unless we grit within a mile of VP....not safe don't yer know ..?

 

Not what anyone expected.This latest signing doesn't really have a wow factor.

Davies, McArdle, Oliver, McHugh, POC, Vincent all good centre halves. Centre mid Jim OBrien, Luke O'Brien, Gary Jones, Nathan Doyle, potentially Elliott Watt, Ricky Rivenhill probably more if I really thought about it. Weve also had some pretty good wingers.

Its all about combinations and the problem is we just have had the right ones

 

Agreed and over the years, it's often been the players without the wow factor that have gone on to be far more useful to us.

 

Heard of him but don’t really know anything about him to be honest, since he went to Everton.
Looks like we’ve done homework again and had a good look at him, which is more than we appear to have done in the past!
For some reason I trust these guys.....

CBs - Davies, McArdle, Burke, Kilgallon,
CMs - Cullen, O'Brien, Jones, Doyle, Evans,

Yeh, difficult. Players like Furman, Law, Vincelot, Payne, McHugh wernt disasters. Had something though.

Think we need to look at the disasterous strikers with big reps - Doyle was a farce, Vaughan cost us a lot in pay offs, McLean just awful, even expected more of Donaldson.

 

Cullen,Evans,Burke...

 

Lewis O'Brien, Luke O'Brien was a bang average full back.

 

Any combination of those CBs and CMs and we would piss league 2, just add a decent striker and you'd go up as champions.

 

I was trying to go for players who we actually owned and not loans but I agree they were brilliant players.
It’s very difficult and I often wonder if we just sign bad players or we are a graveyard for strikers? Or the chopping and changing of managers and then the strikers don’t fit a style of play.

 

Still we sign around 4 or 5 of those types of players every summer. CB/CM as you generally play with 2 sometimes 3. When you look at that strike record it’s not great and apart from mcardle and Jones the good ones generally came on loan and weren’t our actual players

 

Pickford, Darbs, Meredith, Burke, Davies, Jones, Cullen, Marshall, Reach, Wells, Wyke.

McLaughlin, McMahon, McArdle, O'Brien, Evans, Payne, Stead.

Piss L1 as well.
