Blimey, 4 loan signings so far this week up in the Spa town, one each day from 5th-8th. Don’t know owt about them, aiming to secure safety, rather than pushing on I think?!

Favourite name so far, Admiral Muskwe moving from Leicester to Wycombe - fancy being called Admiral, very fancy.

 

We should take John Stead off their hands. Still got it.

 

They're an ambitious outfit, and one of the best sides I've seen in an admittedly poor league and against an admittedly poor City side. But I think they'll be aiming for the playoffs

 

Harrogate?

I would think they're focussed on strength in depth in order to stay up.

Can't see a play off push or even top half.

I didn't think they were particularly good when we played them, either.

 

They were solid, organised and looked like they had a chance or two in them. Not great, but you don't need to be. I've seen very little of them, but they've been building for a long time and have ambitious plans.

 

Bolton made a good signing in Kieran lee today ex Wednesday. Good experience in the middle for this level

I live in harrogate and watch them occasionally load of their fans say it was their best performance of the season against us and they're just hoping to stay up this season. They seem to think they'll find the rest of the season tough and will finish below us in the league .
Also they're bricking it that the chairmen may leave due to the pandemic.

 

Fair enough, I stand corrected. Further emphasises how poor we've been this season though.

 

Just seen a rumour that we are interested in signing Dan Pybus who we released back in 2018. He's also been tracked by Ross County ,Dundee ,Mansfield and Bolton ,and he's apparently become one of the top players in the Scottish Championship. We originally signed him from Sunderland but he never made a first team game and he's now 23.

 

I thought he did play a couple of times?

 

We’ve been stung by that league before, hope we don’t tbh go with players who’ve English football league experience as we’re still in a relegation battle.

 

McArdle came from Aberdeen didn’t he?

 

Were they in the Scottish championship? Many teams at that level are part time.

He did , i remember him playing. I think one was as sub at Walsall if i remember.

Chorleys Harry Cardwell looks a decent player. Big unit. 24 years old. Derby’s academy youngsters struggling with the grass root football of Chorley. That’s why I think academy players from divisions above would struggle in League 2.

 

Or, alternatively, giving them a regular game against that type of physicality will "toughen them up" a bit.

 

As a one off in a cup game yes. As we've seen from Samuels, its whether or not they can do it game in game out that's the question. Huge indicator for me, was Villa's youngsters running out of steam in the second half versus Liverpool. I'm all for academy players coming good, but I think it's more of a gradual process, rather than chucking them in at the deep end.
