I fully expect Walker to offered a new contract. I don’t believe there are many worthy or realistic replacements out there for us right now.

Will the contract be of his expectations? Let’s see. For those who heard yesterdays commentary may have heard Morais brilliant explanation of contract negotiations with older/experienced players (eg. Smallwood also). I fully expect this is where we should see the value of Sharpe.

If Walker isn’t offered a deal, I’ll be very disappointed. Re GA’s comments re player availability, I’d suspect that’s targeted at others and also perhaps our training and player conditioning methods.

 

that’s the way I read it, keeping your first choice players fit is the way to help keep consistency in the team. When they are injured we need players who can step up and play. We don’t want to carry players just because they are here for a wage.

 

You can bet your life that Odour isn't getting injured while committing to many tackles and before anyone suggested they are different players, they're both the same stature and have mainly played in similar positions.

 

You might say so, but how can anyone blame a cracked ankle and a muscle tear whatever it was on “ player availability” . I’ve said before he’s a targeted player, because Doncaster alone, saw him as a threat. Opposition targeted him last season and this.

 

I think that was wholly the ideas from the get go Dave, Walker and Patto, rotating.

 

Perhaps one good reason why we might want to see Dirty Doncaster win the play offs .. ?

 

Now Jamie is playing deeper that would make sense and hopefully it's an option next term but while under Hughes Walker was a "10" and Pattison has never been that player.

 

I expect he'll be offered a new contract. He's still played 30 league game this season and the majority of the games he missed were due to a broken bone which could happen to everyone. With the way he plays you don't want to stop the way he goes in for challenges but it does put him at risk of contact injuries and picking up some silly yellow cards. He is key for us in the 352 playing as a number 8 and i think that's his perfect position.
To find another player who has 8 goals and 5 assists from midfield will be very hard and you'd either have to pay massive money or there will be risks with them, most likely injury.

The reality with Walker is if it wasn't for his injuries he would be playing at a higher level.

 

4 games, one broken leg and a cracked ankle bone . Dirty ? I don’t care how they be known . Leeds were dirty bar stewards in the 60’s and 70’s they did well out of it too Tony ?

 

That's just it we can't afford to carry players, like Alexander said they have to be able too produce week in week out to become part of a successful team.
Getting the best out of training methods with a massive emphasis on reducing the amount of niggling injuries we've picked up must be high on the list of priorities surely.

 

Walker has managed 36 games this season. It isnt ideal, but is far from a disaster either. And his contributions add up nicely. Great little player and great attitude.

Definately trigger the 1 year option for me. Much rather have Walker for 36 games than Oduor for 56.

I think McDonald and Chapman were the 2 he was probably taking aim at.

McDonald was out in Bradford last night. Dunno if anyone saw them at the game but there was about 20 blokes in claret polo's and kilts. Kev was out with them all in the Dubliner on Ivegate last night. Chatted to him for a minute or so, I asked if he's back next season, he said hopefully but will see how his summer plans go.

 

Nothing against him, decent guy, decent career but he is done.

Can see us telling him to find another club.

 

We saw them in the Vaults at some point and then again on the Irish bar at 10ish? Kev must have taken them to all the classy establishments our City has to offer

 

Yeah I think the same. It was a long long time after my first pint and McDonald sounded like he had a few too, but he mentioned something about a summer fitness plan he has setup. Guessing he'll see how that goes but might well call it a day?

 

Walker has just won some community award too - shows he is a clubman and makes a contribution off the pitch as well as on it.

i’ll be disappointed if he leaves. Lets hope the club can offer him something.

 

GA clearly rates him. Started him yesterday and id assume if he wasnt a part of our plans he would have probably started Oduor over him during the run in.

 

Walker must stay for me - one of the best players in the league.
Give the guy a 3 year deal for me.
