I’m hoping Jamie Walker will be staying next season but n his post match interview Alexander said that he needs players who are available for the full season not just 20 matches. Was this a dig at Jamie?

    Potentially.

But for various reasons we've had Jaimie Walker, Pattison and Kevin McDonald being unable to play for significant parts of the season. Arguably the injuries are unlucky and a part of football, but I'm guessing that GA's point is that we can't carry senior squad members who aren't likely to play most of the season.

8 goals and 5 assists in the games he played means he made a difference when he's available. It's the players that don't show up for half the season and play below par I'd rather we got rid of. Walker had an excellent game yesterday and the goal capped off a great performance he deserved that. But if we don't offer him anything (I hope we do and he stays) then he can absolutely leave with his head held high. Thank you Jamie.

Watching him clapping the fans alone at the end of the match, could have looked like he was saying goodbye. I was in the camp of he misses too many games to be given a new deal, but he's the only streetwise player we have at the moment. He's invested into the club, often joins the fans in the away end when injured and seems to get what this club is about. If the finances allow it, I'd certainly give him a deal. With Pattison returning we have 2 capable "free role" players in the door.

Yesterday showed what a fully fit Walker gives you.
Linked play well and did his share of the shitty defensive stuff when needed.
Still getting in to the box at the end for his goal as well.

    I would definitely keep him.

I'd give Walker a new deal tomorrow. He not only brings energy but increases the energy of those around him by his commitment and style of play. He's a leader and we lack leaders.

The issue for me is also that we need Walker but we also need a genuine rotation option. The problem with all our best players is that we continue to flog them to death either until they get injured or that they are carrying knocks and fatigued so that performance levels drop.

We absolutely need to reduce numbers in the squad but hopefully, with the right recruitment, that means more quality available for when we do need to rest or rotate players.

Yesterday, when the game was drifting it was Jaimie Walker that chased the keeper down, forced an error and creates a half-chance for Kavanagh. He's certainly the right type of character that we need.

I would definitely keep him. His latest injury was down to an awful tackle on him. The way he plays means he might get injured mire than someone who wanders around keeping their kit clean, but he makes a difference. I'd rather have Walker for half the games, than 2 lesser players who can't influence a game.

I was one of those who thought he shouldn’t get a new contract, I have changed my mind, his performance in these last few games has been brilliant. We almost have to factor in he will be injured, and rotating Pattison and him might be a good way of keeping them both fit. Without him we look half cooked.

I have always thought he should be offered a new contract, and I will be bitterly disappointed if my favourite player isn't here next season.

The fact that he has just bought a house in the area must mean he wants to stay.

In the camp of doesnt play enough games but surly we can afford to carry him rather than bringing in someone that aint gonna contribute anything.
Like someone said if it was the same injury it becomes a different matter but it aint it bad luck more than anything.

It's more his commitment to go all in rather than bad luck imo.

Listening to GA after the match, he said he knew the ones he wants and will let the players know on Tuesday/Wednesday this week. Hopefully, the club will update the fans by the end of the week at the latest.

Sad isnt it that a player that is fully committed to the cause gets injured rather than the dross who look like they dont care

What if we have identified a player with Walkers attributes, but can get through 40+ games a season,
Its difficult and i am glad i do not have to make the decision,
I like Walker, he's gritty, which is very much a Bradford thing.

Walker looked a bit emotional at the end yesterday, and took a long pause whilst looking up at the kop. It gave the impression to me that he was taking it in for one last time, but I hope not and that I’m over-thinking it.

When fit he's an absolute asset and a cut above at this level. It's a tricky one though as in each of his 2 full seasons with us, hes been out injured for half. I firmly believe that with 10 more games from Walker in each season we'd have made the autos last season and play offs this.
I would certainly keep him though and hope that we have a strong enough squad to better cope for the periods that we are going to potentially lose him for.

Big Walker fan, he gives your 200%, has skill, pulls defenders out of position and generally makes a nonscouses of himself. Like cookie he really cares and he's a player fans can relate to.

Be a bad move letting him go.
