I'm concerned that supposedly improved performances aren't leading to more goals or league wins.

If this is our absolute best, what will we be like when we're off form?

I'd rather play Billy Bantam up front that Kai and as for Lawn I was never a huge fan of his either. One day this club will get an owner who will be perfect but maybe not in my lifetime

Impressed ?? Nothing has been impressive about this calendar year. Yes there's been a slight improvement in the last couple of games but it's still dirge. And it's typical that those who clap happy are those that over egg the improvement.

We're still deep in the mire and it's going to take a lot more than this small improvement to get us out.

Not sure I’ve read anywhere that people are happy and accepting of performances even the current ones. They are noting an upward trend and looking for a silver lining. And is the world so complicated at the moment that to ease our minds you have to be in one camp or the other. Ie pessimistic happy clapper, leave or remain, Democrat republican, ..... you can be in the middle and accepting of both views.

anyone who drifts from the mob consensus (whatever camp you’re in) just gets bullied or ridiculed out of the conversation. What happened to the art of debate? Instead, we have a anti-edin swat team patrolling socail media naming and shaming alleged ‘edinbots’

Sorry if this has been written elsewhere, but given JM has announced his new business and Rochdale role, who has replaced him at city?

A thoroughly nice chap is a thoroughly nice chap whether on line or face to face. An Edin bot self destructs when detected out in the open. Thats why Silverbantam only exists in Cyberspace.

It’s all about improvement at this point. I wouldn’t say I’m a happy clapper because I can see an improvement in what we are doing as a team. The first 2 or 3 weeks Hopkin has had to spend getting the side up to scratch with the fitness side so it’s clear he couldn’t spend much of it on tactics and styles of play.

Now we have started to put together a game plan and the results are turning. Yes we lost at the weekend but we matched a strong side for 90 minutes and a point would have been fair. As I’ve said no bad luck drum beaten here as you make your own luck and Payne should have scored the penalty.

But with a mismatch starting xi and no bench to call upon we more than matched Sunderland who had players on 30 and 40k a week in their starting line up.

The same application and performance will see us pick up points in this league. Add to that the players we have to come back and the results will continue to turn.

Call me a happy clapper but I came away from the game on Saturday thinking we had put in a performance which reminded me of a parky side. We did that with a CB in midfield and a young kid with little first team experience. We were let down in my opinion by a poor bench to call upon when we needed it to turn the game when they were down to ten men

Results against Sunderland will not define our season

I don't think anyone can say that Saturday wasn't entertaining, bar the last 20 minutes. Our limitations are still there but at least we looked to have a shape to the side. The defence actually looked like a defence for the most part and young O'Brien had a very good game against arguably the best central midfield partnership in the division. Look, i've been very critical of the team every game this season, but have always said i will be constructive with praise if deserved. Saturday they gave it a go up until the substitutions, unfortunately even if we have everyone fit, only Doyle J OB and possibly Reeves would make any difference to that game. We badly need another option upfront and a wide player who can hit the ground running. Scannell flatters to deceive and Gibson doesn't look ready at this stage.

That way you can use beer mats as formation. The torn soggy ones can be our midfield.

Put this in your diary Mr How but I am agreeing with you. What cheered me on Saturday was that at times we played some good stuff. I think most of us agree it is likely to be a long hard season but I think there are at least 4 teams who will not be as good as us when we have our squad back and as fit and organised as David will demand. We just need Kai to have no chance of making the bench and Edin to continue leaving his oar out.

James was competent and at face value, good at his job

I'm not sure some of the loving of his position is justified.
