Matthew Benham is nowhere near Billionaire status fyi, in terms of cash he’s probably not that far ahead of Rupp. One is interested another isn’t however.

Barrow who up to a few years ago stood as a non league side,Barrow who stand 14 points ahead of us ..............so please all folk defending Mr Sponsorship man,Mr Invisible and Mr recruitment please 3xplain why a club like Barrow with a smaller budget are getting it right and we cant .............folk can actually say its the manager but you can bet money had he been appointed then he wouldnt have seen 12months out the same as whats heading GA way sadly

You quoted my post Kev that mentioned Brentford and Brighton, not sure where you have got Bournemouth from. I suggest you read back what I put and what you put in response, I k ow Peterborough haven’t seen one it’s you who brought Billionaires up not me. A club doesn’t need one to succeed.

It helps massively, if money is thrown at a football club. Show me a football club that has failed when given unlimited funds by a billionaire. Just one ?

 

Brentford aren’t run by a billionaire through, and certainly weren’t when he took over them. They made massive transfer profits well before they got to the PL and got the fortunes that came with it as do Peterborough now.

For context, the only reason I mentioned Brentford and Brighton was somewhere ironically. As a certain poster on here who defends everything true club does compared selling Lewis to what they do the other day. My point is a couple of 100k them sort of clubs would never have settled on, even when they were starting out on the philosophy years ago.

Peterborough are on a fantastic run and have players on the books worth 7 figures. I know their owner is marmite but i'd drive him here myself tomorrow if it meant him owning us.

He first invested £3m into Brentford in 2007 to buy off their debt, then sold his stake in a 3x Championship winning Dutch league club and ploughed it into Brentford nearly 10 years ago. His wealth is said to be 1/2 billion , not a billion. But 5 times Rupps!

His investment paid for those transfers you rightly cited. Money IS the sustaining factor, as Rupp is kindly/ unkindly proving. You need SERIOUS money and unlimited amounts to sustain a Prem Club and lower down the leagues means there is Les and less of it. That’s a fact of life nobody can deny.

 

I’d take about anyone atm tbh, even someone with half Rupp’s funds could do a better job. Passion and vision can take you along way in business, as usual it is countered by some with the same old tired argument about we can’t say or do anything until some mythical billionaire comes along. I think those that defend Rupp are more obsessed with money than those that criticise him.

Yeah they should be top two year in, year out. They have invested a mega fortune - very badly Indeed.

 

I can only find articles with his net worth at around £280 million, you mentioned billionaire not me as we can both see he is not. And he created a system and strategy when in the lower leagues of not throwing unlimited funds at players but developing and selling for huge profits. As for Rupp’s worth, other than selling his helicopter business for around 360 million euros I’m not really sure what it is, but I bet he’s not as far behind as you are making out. The guy has zero interest in football, it’s not a financial issue in the slightest move away from that thinking. If we got a guy in with half the personnel wealth but with real vision, passion and drive we’d be far better off.

 

Agree, but that’s detracting from my point, being in the top half dozen consistently in the Prem , coupled with being in Champions League year in year out isn’t a success are you joking? God help BCAFC if that’s your bar!

 

We HAVE NOT got that sugar daddy owner, that’s the point and as a result we will never compete, , irrespective of worth, unless the owner is willing to spend big, and even bigger, year after year.

We don't need money to get out of L2, we need an owner with a bloody clue.

They haven't won a major trophy for over 10 years. A club actually run worse than we are.
