Jake Young

He's an unknown as he isn't the player we had a year back. Some people are very excited by unknowns, some people revert to panic. Either way it's different to the last few Januarys when the fanbase looks at a 1 in 6 goalscorers wikipedia page.

I think he is on the bench Saturday and comes on for Smith in the second half. Might be a kick up the arse for Smith as his record in L2 isn't exactly prolific so far this season. Worth remembering with Young, he has a question mark over durability/work rate which even during his Swindon pomp, read their forums, there are questions over the work he does but those questions fade if the ball goes in the net. Also, on paper he scored every week to get 20 by this point, but in reality he scored a lot until early September, then didn't score until end of Oct/start of Nov, scored a lot in November and hasn't scored since November 28th. He clearly is a form player who needs minutes which i think he will get here under GA.

 

Could we bring Kemp here ? Play him as number 10 role with Young up front with Cook.

 

Yes just a small matter of finance. Oh and MK Dons not wanting to loan/sell him to a rival.

Dafter things have happened but not by much. I'd put money on Kemp not coming here and Pointon not going to a championship club.

I have no problems with folk posting messages on forums, likewise I have no problem dismissing daft rumours with the disdain they deserve. Realistic rumours you can hit me with all day long.

 

Cant see us going for another 10 to be honest. Walker will be back within the fortnight, Odour is covering there at the minute with mixed results. A few others who can slot there too, but adding another large wage and registration slot to a 10? Seems unlikely. If we do, I'd imagine its a 19/20 year old loanee who might make the bench but is there in case injuries pile up in that area as he wont need registering.

Also, with Young back, that's our final registration slot taken in the squad. So we wouldn't be able to register another O21 player without people leaving first. I know GA has reiterated the point that we are getting people out the door, but it is now a case of that needs to happen first before anyone of note comes in.

 

Smith, I suppose like Young last year here, has spent a fair bit of time out of position. He started here under Hughes out wide, something he can’t do in a month of Sunday’s. Just as he’s not a lone striker as he lacks the hold up ability, it’s clear he’s someone to play off a physical centre forward which he’s now doing and imo there is a decent partnership forming there but they can take time. Wells and Hanson had a decent number of games in 11/12 before finally flourishing the following season it rarely happens overnight. Young from what I’ve seen doesn’t have the pace or work rate of Smith, but is probably better at finishing, certainly long ranger finishing. Maybe he’ll flourish alongside Cook, but maybe it’ll be just another flop and I know what my moneys on. I’ll happily hold my hands up and say I was wrong if it happens, but atm imo people are thinking it’s just a case of stick him on for Smith and we’ll score loads and that simply is very unlikely to be the case.

I very much doubt Kemp will be staying at MKD. He asked to be sent on loan when GA took over, it was GA who loaned him out. He'll leave but will go to L1.

 

Agree it’s unlikely but he won’t get game time under the current system unless he plays alongside Cook. It’s like the jigsaw piece, it only fits in one place unless we chuck the entire puzzle in the bin?

 

I can just see another unchanged team on Saturday with Young on the bench kicking his heels and wishing he was back at Swindon.

I'm not sure he's going to fit in well up front but I'm not sure where he played at Forest Green.

 

We tried that last January and then changed our minds.

He'll be happy playing at MK now their style has changed. He won't move unless he's going up a league.
