I’m not sure how much that matters in modern football Kev, or championship teams wouldn’t spend a penny! It’s all if they are willing to add to their debt to bring in an investment, I’m not sure they will as we wouldn’t either, but I just curious how their ownership is seen through Swindon eyes.

One last point don’t we have another year option on him? This would leave us with two years in the summer not one, if I’ve remembered that correctly of course. Maybe it was just Lewis but I thought that was how we went about contracts in that summer. If that is the case then we firmly hold the aces.

It matters big style if they can’t pay taxes. Private creditors are one thing , the Government needs every penny it can get so more likely to come down on clubs that cannot agree tax settlement terms? . They have more cash outgoings than incomings .

I didn't see anything "physical" from Smith and I thought he was quite poor. Then he scored. Now I think he's world class!!

My point is I think GA encourages a second striker to just stay up front and take any chances. That's totally different from every manager since Parky - so I could see Young fitting in fine.

I'd go further and say that Alexander will ask him what's been the key to his success and say right that's how you'll continue with us.

And in fairness to the hapless Sparks, if we get a good fee for him - then we have to chalk that down as a success.

The thing is, it’s not how Young plays, it’s the system the whole team plays that has enabled him to score. We’re dreadful defensively with everything about going forward. Kemp has been critical to his success - a clever, nippy midfielder who slips him in.

I'm not convinced that the current system is set in stone. Sensibly, Alexander wants the team to get some wins under their belt, by getting their shirts a bit dirtier.

And in fairness, he still believes in chance creation - he was almost apologising for us not creating that many chances. In short I don't think there is a world of difference between the approaches of Flynn and him - remember Walsall were bored stupid with Fynn's tactics and Newport were known as a functional team.

Is it a 4-3-3 that you play?

Smith runs in behind to stretch the play. That's not Young's game.

I think GA will adapt depending on the players we have.

It's a win win for him. If Smith is still scoring then presumably we're doing OK and so adapting the system for Young isn't important - result is Young comes back and is part of the squad, if not sold

If we've still got room for improvement, then Young comes in. And who knows it could be Young / Smith.

Young has been a success for the first time in his career. A sensible manager will be seeing what's worked and tweaking the team accordingly - the only good news is that we've got so many players another change in the system is not an issue.

Young already has 15. He could have 20-25 by Jan. I wouldnt be selling him for a penny less than £500k.

We need options up top and we need goal scorers - there is a place for him in the side and that is fighting out with Smith to partner Cook.

We have been playing 3-5-2 with, would you believe, 2 of those 3 CBs ball carriers to set up attacks. When the ball is transitioned we are always short at the back. The 2 WBs have little to no defensive responsibilities so you can understand why we score and concede in equal parts. It’s miles away from what we all thought Flynn-ball would be. Great to watch when it’s working, but dreadfully deflating when the defensive frailties are shown up time and time again.

What if he comes back sulking. If he is happy to come back yes otherwise put him up for sale and see what happens

LOL!! It's miles away from what Walsall and Newport put up with. But fair play to Flynn for adapting to his audience.

Thought you started off brilliantly against us, but then faded quite badly and didn't seem to have a Plan B.

I still think there's room for both of us in the play-offs, we just need to grind these wins and get a bit more confidence.

I'm convinced Alexander would welcome back Young with open arms - but he could easily be a January target, which if so is the first bit of smart business our CEO will have done for us!!

It's not up to him. If we want him back, then he comes back. If he's daft enough to down tools, given that this is the first decent half season he's ever had - more fool him.

It's a win win for us. He comes back and goes back to last seasons form - but Swindon wings are clipped. He comes back to us and gets 15 goals for us. Or he goes for a packet. Keep scoring Jake!!!

With two years left on his deal, we do hold all the aces.
Depends whether GA would prefer the money to spend.

We are the only club who lets players go to our forward finishing school club and hesitate bringing him back. Hilarious. Bring him back and he fits in somewhere chis assists would help never mind the goals he has got.

We have had experience of this with Doyle. They can be forced back but if their heads aren’t right leave it alone

But there’s a very good reason why Doyle didn’t want to come back - he knew he would be played out of position again as a target man, instead of a fox in the box, and that’s exactly how it panned out. It was utterly criminal the way we misused Doyle, both before and after his loan period at Swindon. We had the best goal poacher in the division by a country mile and we played him with his back to goal and hoofed missiles up to him. You really couldn’t make it up.

I’m sure that if/when we recall Young it will be to play him in his preferred position as a striker alongside Cook or Oliver, not wide out left as Hughes misused him.
