To be honest as I am a City fan I haven't seen Jake Young play this season, I have only seen the goals he has scored on tv highlights so I can't judge if he has improved as a player. He looked a decent player in the few games he did play for us before going out on loan.

I don't think he's ever looked like a terrible player, but last season must have been a ball ache for the lad because no sooner has he signed a 3 year deal than Andy Cook has his best ever season.

Whatever happened between Young and Hughes, Hughes was in the right to stick with Cook last season, and it's a tough reality of football that good players sometimes don't get played.

Whether he's now a bonafide challenger to Cook remains to be seen, and probably depends tremendously on how we play. We've just seen Tyreik come back in and be absolutely anonymous for 65 minutes (aside from one chance), maybe Young looks exactly the same in this side?

At any other club, if Young was Swindons player for example and you were watching this from the outside, not in a million years would anyone on this forum think one is significantly lower valued than the other. It's crazy.

A title on the CV too. I dont get it.

As i said, i do not think there would be many takers.
We appear to have lots that like to blow hot air, but not many that would actually back such a scheme with their own cash, even though the club has charged a pittance for the season tickets for at least 10 years, saving each adult fan around £100 per year.
If we had all put that in a fund, we could afford the stadium and the club.

I agree we can't compare the two but I hope the club value Jake Young higher than some of the fans on here do. Anyway we'll know by February 1st, sooner if GA was being honest with us.

All down to the scouting and recommendations I'd imagine. Could be said for many strikers down the years. I don't think anyone is suggesting there is a like for like value, nobody is seriously saying we should slap a £2m tag on Young. It's more our seeming willingness to accept below market value. Money has hit this league, no doubt about it. Over the next 12 months, seven-figure price tags will be the norm.

Salford have put an £800k tag on Luke Bolton after L1 interest, he's a right wing back.

Of course none of us would. We all know there will be pitfalls not least the Pension Fund who have done very nicely and wouldn’t want to give up their lucrative investment. However, a football stadium that probably has no real worth other than to the fans of Bradford City. In order to try not be ripped off we need a bargaining tool ie another stadium we maybe look at. The Stadium if by some miracle manages to get it back must be controlled by a Trust set up indefinitely, that way we and fans in the future will not be faced with the same dilemma.

Don't you just love it when stats and facts get in the way of the points made by "experts"?

City need to stick to their guns and not accept anything less than they valued him at.
Of course other clubs will try and low ball us.
For what its worth , i think between £4 and £500 k with a few add on's would be decent for a lad That has done very little for us or any other club bar Swindon for a few months.
The Wimbledon and Salford asking prices are stupid for league 2 players, potential or not and is more likely trying it on or do not want said player to leave.

I fear you might be right, but no harm in exploiring this option. The problem is it is dead money ie once you have paid nice rosy feeling then nothing. Of course charge the club for use of etc.,

I don’t think the stadium ownership is the reason this club struggles. Our problems are entirely our own making because we have a disinterested owner, a rookie CEO, and have continually made bad appointments in key positions in the business, i.e managers.

we didnt think all were bad at the time but hindsight shows they were wrong.

if the club ever raised 5m id rather it was invested in good young players to try take us up the divisions. Sell a few then worry about the ground?

If the ground expense was preventing us from having a competitive budget then we would need to look at buying it back, but essentially its just another excuse for the failure of this football club.

Phil Parkinson was evidence that the stadium and training facilities are not factors holding us back. Even Bowyer and Hughes had good spells around/in the playoffs from their budgets. They both just happened to be over cautious managers.

we naturally look at all sorts of things to explain our predicament but IMO its simple. Rupp needs to go. Move Ryan sideways and bring in a new CEO. I just hope Rupp lowers his asking price for a smooth sale and then we fans won’t need to resort to a summer boycott. But thats where it heading.

Glad to see the City Vent lads organising a meeting etc.

It is because he is a City player, and fans at this club nearly always undervalue our own players. Maybe because we sell them too early and we can’t see potential. I think JY has loads, he needs handling properly.

You got it in one Gibb as one of the PF trustees would be bonkers to sell the ground as long as we have no alternative. For them it’s a cash cow whose udder would always be full.

I wouldn’t honestly know where to value him, that’s why I never put values on players. Accidentally he may have, in some respects devalued himself? Happy to explain if necessary?

Yep, 0 goals and 4 assists this season.... £800k. Sounds like it will probably get taken up too. Just having a google, Wrexham have had their first bid rejected, thought to be about £500K. Barnsley in a similar boat with a failed bid, thought to be less than Wrexhams, Salford standing firm by their valuation.

Why? Are you enjoying yourself at games or just enduring?

I've got to the age now where I can't be arsed "enduring" any more and I'd either find something else to do or probably just start watching the phoenix club again once it's formed as we stand half a chance of a promotion in tier 8 or 9!

    Exactly this.
It’s been said a lot previously but if Young was anywhere else and we thought we could get the league’s second top scorer for £200k you’d think the selling club were absolutey bonkers for letting him go.
It does seem the mindset of some fans on here to belittle the one asset we have(even though his stats are comparable with players going for vast amounts more) and seem happy to accept a stupidly low amount.

Rupp is currently going nowhere, there is no one on the horizon wanting to take the club on at his asking price.
If he paid circa £6 million to Rhodes and Lawn whilst on the cusp of the championship, well we are not on that cusp now and surely have de- valued, but this is football and whilst the club costs him nothing, he can afford to wait.
Fans boycotting by not renewing , will lead only one way, smaller playing budget, relegation and probably admin again.
4th time in my years or attendance.
Rupp will write it up as a tax loss and we the fans will lose our club
Fans meetings are all well and good, but a plan that has some financial backing behind it, would speak far louder than words. Even Rupp in his ivory tower would hear about it and it might make him take note.
Was it not a group of fans that forced his hand over Rahic.
