Long ball? Really?
We are more direct at times and get the ball forward quicker but I definitely don't see it as long ball. At times we do still look to move it through the thirds, we just don't retain possession for possessions sake like we did under Hughes. I can't see any reason why this style wouldn't suit Jake Young.

I would like him to come home. Plays for the rest of the season and helps us win promotion. It would show a level of maturity that would be noted by perspective buyers. If he wants to leave he can in the summer. His ties to Swindon are minimal, they have a loan fee contractual arrangement but that is not like a full contract. We return a fair amount back.
Hughes is no longer with us. All the team look happy now is the time.
If he doesn’t want to come back forcing him would be a nightmare. However, we have the right to enforce a review of his loan agreement. We cannot let a competitor have an advantage of a goal scoring striker.Lancashire Bantam, Inspector, Chrisako and 4 others like this. -

We need a healthy amount of numbers up top and at the moment we are playing 2 and only have 3 to choose from (sorry Derbyshire).
Bizarre to question where Young fits in. He fits in when there are opportunities and he earns his shirt.
There will be plenty of rotation and injuries between now and May and Cook, Oliver, Smith and Young will all get a chance.

A mature response from Young regarding his time at Bradford. Seems like he's used the experiences well when he could have easily taken his bat and ball home. When one door closes always look for another open door. -
Makes me laugh when I hear people say we should leave him at Swindon or sell him for 200k. We sold academy players like Sahil for 200k.

We will recall to play for us, or recall to sell to another club who make us an offer we can't refuse. -

also if Jake Young keeps scoring at Swindon up until January at 22 he will likely attract interest from clubs with money to spend. Nice problem for us to have for a change.Sergio Pinto III, Lancashire Bantam, Onside and 4 others like this. -

Who's the other options in the squad? Pattison is injured, Odour has a questionable work ethic and attitude, Osedebe hasn't made the most of his chances and Chapman/Wilson aren't central midfielders.
Pointon has ability, we've all seen that so I think we should be getting behind him, letting him develop and making sure he gets enough minutes to do that. The Evidence, Salty, Botswana Bantam and 4 others like this. -

To be fair to Jake Young, after his spell at Barrow and being frozen out with us, his career as a professional footballer wasn't in a great place.
He's earned his shot at playing in a higher division if there is an offer pending. Good luck to him.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...CRASS, Loyalbantam, WilsdenBantam and 4 others like this. -
Mo Eisa went from Cheltenham to Bristol City after one good season, for £1m - he was 25 and the sum total of his league record was 23 goals in 46 games. Not just for that season, his career to date at that point.
Max Watters went on loan to Crawley for half a season and joined Cardiff for £1m. He was 21, and scored 13 league goals. Almost identical to Young in terms of age and performance (in fact, Young has scored more).
Omar Bogle went to Wigan for £850k after scoring 19 goals in 27 games, in his first spell in league football at the age of 23
Luke James (remember him?!) went for £650K, after scoring 13 in his first full season in League 2.
Connor Washington went for £600K after just 5 goals in his first League 2 season, at the age of 22.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Solentbantam, Naz Nomad, Offcomedun and 4 others like this. -
