That's why he got so upset and defensive when someone suggested it.

I wonder if his response would be different with hindsight.

 

Huddersfield were wanting £500k plus last summer and no one came him for Payne so we got him on loan. I can't see them getting £500k in jan with 6 months left may be half that. Can we afford that and would he want to come on a perm deal?.

 

But we could sign someone and the Payne deal collapse leaving us with two players

 

We could probably afford the transfer fee, not sure what wages he would be on or want. However, I think all irrelevant anyhow, as I suspect he will have better options than joining a team possibly destined for league 2

By far and away our player of the season so far, never understood some fans wanting him dropped earlier in the season

Also depends if he wants to move. He might sit out the season to get himself a better deal at end of the seaso

 

Exactly ........... Hudders don't want him so the lad delivers at VP - And awaits all offers, with no 'fee' ( ) involved

 

He might as well stay with Hudders and play in the Championship next season

 

Honestly @Fordy117 you say that like we have never ever bought duff players in the past under different chairmen.

I wonder if a deal with any remaining Wells monies could be agreed? Although the player would surely want better than a rock bottom L1 club I suppose.

 

I have heard Jack is a lot happier at City than he was back in Sept/Oct - I wouldnt discount anything at this stage. Would be a real sign of intent from the club if we could put a deal together - perhaps with some clause relating to which division we end up in at the end of the season?

It lasts for as long as he keep getting transferred and the previous club get a club. There is no time limit, it would end if he let his contract expire and then moved club. It would also expire if he moved with no sell on clause. Each move the trickle down would get less and less

Am I missing something here? We have signed Jack Payne on a season-long loan. If Hudders want him back in Jan, both clubs have to agree - and I can’t see us even considering it.
