Remember, this is all just about pushing for peace and ceasefire, it's not antisemitic etc etc

I was probably been hopeful. The problem they have is it can't be reversed, once you've opened the floodgates they can't be shut. The progressives think they are clever but can't see beyond the end of their noses. The west is losing control.

Spot on. Iran has walked straight into the trap set for him by Netanyahu. Now everyone is talking about Iran instead of the systematic destruction of Gaza. Very dangerous times.

Let's not forget that the blame for the so called destruction of Gaza lies squarely with Iran, who backed and encouraged Hamas to inflict their evil deeds on the innocents of Israel, knowing that Netanyahu would retaliate with force.

They are both as complicit in the conflict as each other. Nothing will ever be resolved while each party scrambles to take the moral highground.

That's a refreshing comment from some of the Israelis bearing in mind the article was written by Naama Lazimi who is a member of the Knesset for Israel’s Labor party, I wonder what % of the Palestinians would feel the same with regards the butchering of innocent Israelis going about their business on 7th October.

The message we should all be heeding is the one by yes "Donald Trump" when he pulled American out of the deal with Iran saying America would not be a part of any deal that basically wouldn't allow nuclear inspectors to look at other sites the Iranians said were out of bounds, once these loons get the capability to make a nuclear bomb we have trouble, let's hope the Iranians who have witness a more liberal regime in the past can get these radicals out of power, what ever happened to the "Arab Spring" George Galloway predicted.

Exactly. It’s a highly complex issue. Simplistic explanations, such as are often expounded on these pages, are well wide of the mark. The seeds of this conflict go back to the early 20th century and the way the modern Israeli state was established without proper provision for the displaced Palestinians. Since then we’ve had understandably resentful Arabs vs understandably insecure Israelis.

Extremist Islamist Arab states like Iran want to wipe Israel off the map. Extremists in Israel (including some in the current government) are actively trying to forcibly drive all Palestinians out of Gaza and the West Bank to establish a much bigger Israel in the pursuance of some loopy prophesy in a religious text.

Unfortunately we’ve got uncompromising hardliners in control of Iran and Israel, which makes the prospect of wise counsel and compromise solutions pretty unlikely at present. But there’s no more chance of Israel destroying Hamas by force than of Iran destroying Israel. The only way this ever gets settled is with a properly negotiated and policed two state solution, which would see support for Hamas and Hezbollah amongst Palestinians gradually fade away. But that won’t happen with Khomeini and Netanyahu in power.

A quick look through the history books shows that both countries have a claim to land in the area. The seeds of conflict seem to back way further than the 20th century, Israel seems to have been there a lot earlier than Palestine but that would be simplifying something that at first glance is way more complicated. Looking for a solution looks hopeless, i'm not sure the powers that be really want it. After all war is good business and it seems business is booming. To quote a line from the band Megadeth, 'Peace sells, but who's buying'?

Listening to a debate last night and all the panel agreed retaliation from Israel will not help, they all said the West have to help the people of Iran to get this radical Islamist government out, they all we people from the middle east who were concerned these Islamic radicals did not represent the vast majority of Muslims which I have no doubt is true, having said that you don't need many radicals and their ideology to do what we seen in the past for people to blame Islam.
They all agree Abraham's Accord could be used as a base going forward but this Iranian regime has to be defeated they are 90 % behind these terrorist groups.

Radical Islam is a huge threat, but who's to say that 'the West' is a beacon of virtue and common sense? It's not - the US is a complete and utter basket case itself.

I can't see Israel not retaliating in some way. It may not be immediate, but they'll do something.

Time will tell they all had their own agenders but we're united in Israel not responding with the help of their allies Israel has shown the missile's Iran sent did little or no damage.
Agree the West have a lot to answer for but given what we've seen with regards many Islamic regimes I know where I'd prefer to live, we do have a choice every 5 years or so of voting out that government, maybe not the best but far better than an armed rebellion to get rid of their present regimes.
America may be a basket case but I believe that claim could be made of many western countries, maybe that's why these people keep coming in their thousands to the basket case that is the UK ?.

People keep coming here because we're a soft touch, open with our benefits system, and won't say boo to a goose when it comes to other cultures wanting to embed their own way of life here.

But anyway, on Israel - it's a catch 22 situation. The fact that the damage is negligible doesn't detract from the intent. They'll feel compelled to act, and appeasement rarely works. I personally think Iran is itching to really ramp this up.

Add into the mix the situation with Russia/Ukraine, and the tensions around China/Taiwan and possibly even North and South Korea, and a widespread conflict is a very real, very imminent possibility. And even if its not imminent, globally we'll be at the precipice of WW3 for a few years.

    Very, very dark times.

With the woke and trans bollocks that seems to originate from the shores of the US to over here, I'm not sure sometimes if Islam isn't actually the lesser of the two evils.

That's pretty much what that panel were saying last night any sort of retaliation will not help the Isrealis cause in fact no retaliation would make Iran's attempt to get a response look stupid, that's not saying Iran don't have weapons that can get past the Iron Dome.
I don't think Russia would be daft enough to use nuclear weapons but I do believe Iran (when they have the capability) and possibly North Korea would use them given the situation.
