Is Gary Bowyer the dullest manager we've had?

His pre season comments about needing 3 transfer windows and again alluding to only having one transfer period to sign players is comical when he went out and more or less signed 3 transfer windows worth of players. Wasn’t it something like 15 summer signings? How many does he need to sign before we can finally judge him? 20? 30? Ive also seen similar comments on here in defence of Bowyer “but Bowyer himself said he needed 3 windows”. Since when do managers dedicate 3/4 of their contract as a prolonged trial period and get away with it? Make no mistake about it, the majority of managers in this division would love to have been in Bowyer’s position. 5 out of the back 6 of our immaculate defence were already in the building and he then went out and signed the likes of Vaughan, Donaldson, Cooke etc.

I think his excuse about injuries was a valid one and I made reference to it elsewhere. This was until recently where he’s had close to a full squad to chose from and the likes of Reeves and Palmer have made no difference in terms of performance. We actually looked better when we were forced to play the likes of Akpan, Devine In a 4-3-3 than the current 5-3-2 with an abundant of midfield options to choose from.

Bowyer is doing well so far in terms of results but knows that his style is beginning to grate. He needs to either back himself and play his preferred formation without making the ridiculous excuses or even better, use the talent in the squad properly and play them in a way that suits.
