Interesting article in T and A about the revenue streams from Ifollow. It's obvious that's Rhodes has told Parker to make fans feel guilty about not watching. But when you get battered by Lincoln and Harrogate can you blame fans!?

Reading the article City must be way out on their projected figures if they thought the best part of 3,000 people would buy ifollow purchases for games. Bet we've never had anywhere near that figure.

It's crazy, what world are they living in at board level, we are now bottom half four division with a mate of Rhodes on his third management stint with the club. Do they think fans are stupid ?

So they expected an average of 3,000 households per game. We never regularly take that number to away games and most/a lot of people that usually attend VP renewed their season ticket so are getting the home games free.

Interesting article shared in the T&A. It’s good to hear and understand what the pick up is on this.

The initial budget of two to three times current away figure was a little ambitious IMO. Considering how much time people are spending at home, the weekend becomes a time for people to get out, outside local restrictions. Also surely they considered that with the loss of match day social, people would meet in groups to watch the games resulting in lower subscriptions.

I understand some have experienced challenges with the platform and others don’t enjoy the experience. As a Southern based supporter I get to see way more games than I do in a normal season, which is great. However I also have other commitments and have so far not even purchased 50% of the games, which I don’t see changing.

Maybe the local restrictions in the north might result in a small upturn in numbers. However can’t help but feel they should re-budget based on current numbers unless anything significant on pitch changes.

Maybe if they created a better product on the pitch, more people would pay to watch it.

I would love for them to explain the logic that went into thinking that 3,000 households - not individuals- would tune in to the away games :joy: Especially since there's barely an ounce of positivity or ambition coming from the club.

    Three thousand though. Mind boggling.

Said this before but there should have been an option for non existing season ticket holders to purchase season tickets, on the understanding that they would probably be watching the whole season on the telly, and wouldn't get into the ground unless all restrictions on capacity were lifted. I think if marketed right, they could have sold an extra couple of thousand and had the money in the bank.

We're all a bit sore about where we find ourselves and how long it is seeming to take to turn things around..

Exactly this. The standard is awful, we’re not exciting to watch, we don’t have a goal threat. It’s a poor product and people don’t want to pay to watch it.

I’ve been saying it for years. This assumption that people will turn up/watch as long as its cheap is misguided. I hope our new CEO has a more compelling vision based around building a better ‘product’ that fans will happily pay to watch.

I don't believe the product makes that much difference to ifollow sales. I base this thought on our fan base generally being made up of a hard core of fans of about 7/8,000 and an away following of usually below 1,000. So with an away following of about 15% of that hard core, the rest of the clubs support is mainly an apathetic bunch looking for a cheap afternoon out on a Saturday. No way are you getting anywhere near 3,000 ifollow sales based on that and i'm surprised the club thought any different.
When you price your season tickets at ridiculously low levels it becomes hard to get your fans to part with a tenner for a game on sub standard TV subscription.

We have been encouraged to watch home games with a cheap ticketing policy for years now. As a consequence, we have got used to not valuing the football on show as much as some other clubs do including Bolton. As an indicator, their early bird deal on STs was £349 in the East and West stands and £275 in their North stand. THat makes ours less than half that on average. I'm not surprised that outlook has filtered through to iFollow sales.

But we're a massive club mate. Everyone says so, massive potential apparently.
