Yes, he was faster, got in front of him and their forward basically wasn't strong enough to take the body to body contact and fell over. Neither had control of the ball and so a coming together was fair enough for me.

Whats happened to Kian Scales? Looked fairly decent in pre season. With injury to Walker I thought Hughes may have had him on bench at least.

Its going to be a challenge for some to even get on the bench even though Walker is medium term, Eisa and Osadebe are long term injuries. Pretty difficult? Who would be in front of him in the pecking order.

    In no specific order

    Smallwood
    East
    Songo
    Sutton
    Gilly

    Anyone else?

Yes, why not, had he not got his red card he would have been available for selection....

A fair point but incorrect on Eisa. He is back in light training.

I know, but not training in the sense we normally mean according to MH . Still a long way off, he met the group of senior players yesterday and promptly left them

    Hughes

A number of weeks isn't 'long term' though, is it? Long term is months, or season long injured.

I'm not sure if I've ever known a player make so few appearances over this length of time. I think Ramsden, Reeves and possibly Riley played more minutes than the unfortunate Eisa and they seemed to be out for ages. Whatever the injury is, I doubt (but hope not) he'll return anywhere near the player he was. In fact, what is the player he was? I can't remember anything about his performances for Scunthorpe so couldn't tell you where his best position is or what his attributes are.

Ismail too. He was with us for 2 years and can't have started more than a couple of games. 2 long term injuries. Last seen at Hereford in the NLN.

Its August 11th when the announcement was made. Did you listen to the MH interview that Park posted, opposed to the T&A . I bet , after listening to Hughes it’s “ months”, so how does that fit ? Let’s see when he plays his first game , it’s playing with words , you know and I know Offy.

He played as a winger/wide attacker for Scunny, scoring 14 goals in 67 appearances - a ratio of just more than one in five. That translates as 9 or 10 goals per season, which is a good stat for a wide player playing in a very poor team.

"I should never have got the way I did. I can only blame myself for that."
Some honest words from Andy Cook about coming back a lot fitter after being out of shape last season ... #bcafc

As a professional sportsman you shouldn't have got out of shape but understandable with his injury and playing for Derek Adams both depressing situations.

Also implied in that article is that he didn't feel he needed to try as hard to keep his place in the team last season, because he knew the competition up front was poor. Probably became a bit complacent about that, which is another depressing situation to be in.

I think he knows he lost his first pick striker place in the team for a reason.

He now looks as though he's going to get it back for a reason.

Competition for places in the first team can be the difference between promotion or not.

Keep it up Andy, there's only you will benefit, and the team of course.

Shows the value of competition for places. We have it in most areas now.
