If that proves to be true, then at least we have real quaility waiting as back up in Doyle.

TBF I've been critical of Cook in the past. But after that header all is forgiven!

Yes certainly out of position which exacerbates the problem?

There is indeed. It will pan out over time. It’s about grabbing a chance. I think Young maybe about to do similar. His 30 min role at Barrow , the goal , and last night’s performance was pretty positive. I’m sure when Harratt returns we could see a partnership. How that fits who knows? The one I don’t quite yet get is Chapman. He should have buried that chance in the second half , yet his approach work was decent enough. The jury is out on him as yet..? One last point re Sutton. Don’t you think he’s pretty tentative an£ a shadow of last season. I wonder if it’s linked to his operation in close season?

Banks’s whipped corners and crosses aren’t seen in this division often.. Impressive! Along with Halliday crossing , it’s something badly missed against Donny especially, and Barrow.

I'd not noticed Gilliead was on the pitch but when you do take a look at him he is a very busy player who unsettles opponents.

Away, so didn’t see game but seems like a much improved performance. Good on Cook, I have doubted him at times, but you can’t knock 3 goals in one and a bit games. Sounds like Banks will be a real asset. Interesting selection puzzle for Hughes for Saturday.

I wondered the same about Sutton. Definitely seems a little subdued. Also wondered if maybe he's playing under instruction to not get carried away, not jump in and hold his position

He had one nice moment on the left side byline. Other than that, he's steady without over doing it. Considering he started off as a winger, I'd like him to run at opponents a bit more. I'm not sure he's the answer when we start to lose control in midfield though. Was good to see Smallwood getting stuck in. Should have done it more in the previous two games, and I feel this was his Hope Akpan moment vs Burton. Shouldn't need to be playing against his former club to get aggressive and control the game. Let's hope that this win has lifted all the players, and they come out with a similar attitude and performance on Saturday.
Slight footnote: Crichlow has had a few dodgy moments. If it wasn't for his pace, he'd have been in a bit of trouble. I thought he should have been sent off on Saturday, aswell as looking at fault for the goals. Yesterday he had a scary miscontrol incident, plus also could have given away another pen. Fortunately, he looks to have speed and composure when needed, and this gets him out of jail. I think I said it last week, he looks good on the ball (against Donny), but its when he's getting run at by forwards, we'll see how good he is.

Amazing what a win does, half commenting on here were at manic depressive stage last Saturday. First half hour last night we were chasing shadows but importantly the team had a shape to it for the first time in three games. Had we have gone with the same shape as the Barrow game I'd have us 2 or 3 down at half time. Going back to the lone striker and three behind who are mobile was what we did well at the end of last season. Where that leaves Angol and Oliver who knows but to me it's important for the team that we play a mobile front four. Chapman looks comfortable centrally, he isnt a winger who will go to the byline. Like the look of Banks and Young, both like to run direct down the middle as well as wide. I hope folk can see what Smallwood does well now, no nonsense. Helped him having Banks, Young and Chapman in front of him calling for quick ball to feet rather than looking for Angol or Oliver.
Early days still, we might well get stuffed in Saturday. But if we play the same formation as last night I'm pretty sure we won't.

Sutton is best as a free spirit, but if you nail him down to a specific role then we have better options than him for any position he in plays.

    I still don't care.

People saying it was a great performance. Over 90 minutes I say it wasn't.

I'm just not sure what Angol brings to the team. Busy player but lacking end product whom seems unsure to commit the defender.

To me his feet seem to react a second after his brain does. I like the lad but you can see his hamstrings affect his movement.

He was much better yesterday. Should have gained at least one pen, which in the Prem, using VAR , three would highly likely have been given. I do get your basic point though Dave.

In a good team performance, Angol was unlucky not to get a cast iron penalty but is he the game changer, the lad whom can unlock a stubborn deep defence, sitting in?
In a lacklustre performance I just don't see it. He's not a passenger but with non scoring /assisting players already in the team (such as Gilliead, East) he's not the correct option for me.

Replying to Rcbantam...If you can see improvement and things beginning to gel after watching with disappointment the opening two efforts, then it has us fans feeling it was GREAT!

I have no complaints whatsoever over last nights great performance, just thought the ref got a bit twitchy the last 20 minutes or so.....

In what way Tony. He bottled the three pens for sure, (that weren’t) and he was in direct sight of one .?
