In the short-term it can only be hoped that the change of manager bounce can be enough to keep Bradford City up.
In the longer term I think this is a sad day for Bradford City. I thought Hopkin was a really exciting appointment and, though it might have meant relegation first, he could have taken the club back to The Championship within a few years.
For Hopkin his next move will probably be back to Scotland. For Bradford City Gary Bowyer would seem a safe, steady choice; though working for the Oystons has surely made him look very closely behind the scenes before committing himself.

For me it has to be the very unpopular choice of Steve Evans. Looking beyond his chequered past, he has to be the man who gives us the most chance of staying up. Motivating and organising this band of misfits has to be the priority now with 36 points to play for. It has to be someone who can come in and get the ball rolling from day 1. Cant think of anyone else who stands to give us a better chance of survival

hes played a blinder to get rid of everyone else and leave himself wi the managers job lol, on a serious note we're completely fecked. Thanks Edin you absolute winner I hope you had a save game on this horrible real life footy manager game from before you disappeared up your own arse and sacked stuart, thank you players for proving football is the only job where you can be an insult to the profession and keep your job. Thanks stefan for literally allowing all of this to happen so now you have to piss millions away just to keep us as a going concern.

My advice, pay literally everybody off and get them out of the building at the end of the seaon. and I mean everybody. from the coaches to the players and get somebody in to start completely fresh. As much as people saying oh he wont want to take that hit, fecking TOUGH. this is how badly the jobs been fecked and in my honest opiinion that is the only way to ensure we dont go down again.

And if Evans fails then an already disillusioned fan base, and toxic atmosphere increases...

    No from me.

I haven't posted for a while due to ill health, but this news is devastating for the club, he joined a shite show that was created by one man who has now gone, it's going to take years for us to recover has a club to get over that lunatic, hopefully we can pull someone out of the hat to keep us in this division but in all honesty it's going be a hard long slog

Yep and we now have Drury in charge - the players will take a lot of notice of him...

We were getting relegated under Hopkin. Whilst today’s news came as a surprise, we now have a chance of staying up as it surely can’t get worse.

Not with the wrong personnel it can’t. Don’t you think Hopkin has tried working on them? The squad is has the completely wrong mix of players, no amount of shouting and rousing can change that. People are barking up the wrong tree when they think someone can just come in and ‘kick them up the backside’. Hopkin flogged them in training, he bollocked them behind the scenes (just ask Tom Isherwood) but that won’t suddenly change the fundamental issues within the squad and club. Its not that the players aren’t trying, its a realisation amongst them as a team that the parts of that team aren’t good enough.

Well I'd have Parky back, would be a long slow recovery but better than most other options I guess....

Parkys whole philosphy is 4-4-2, big bast@rd centre backs and a big lad upfront, one quick winger and steady on the other flank. Get the right personnel and it works. Parkinson ls football was effective, brutal in its execution for the most part but is more likely to get you results with a small budget in the lower leagues. Becomes limited in its success the higher up the food chain you go but in league 1 its effective. Look at Luton and Portsmouth this season, their football ain’t much different to Parkinsons.

It's a tale of six games for me.
Despite the disastrous January window (which further unbalanced an already unbalanced squad and addressed none of our obvious needs) I saw enough in the two battling away draws at Burton and Wycombe, and the late comeback against Shrewsbury, to believe that Hopkin could keep us up.

But the last three games killed that optimism stone dead. The lack of spirit, the defensive disorganisation, the bizarre late substitutions, the absence of a Plan B and (especially) the persistently dire hoofball to our midget attackers all led me to believe that Hopkin had lost the plot.
It now looks like the miraculous December was only a blip, due to a combination of playing poor sides, catching teams by surprise, getting a bit of luck and generating a short term confidence boost which was quickly burst and never recovered.

The Walsall result convinced me we were going down under Hopkin. And, given the horrendous financial constraints likely next season I'm not convinced he could have repeated his Livingston achievements and brought us back up. So I'm quite glad he has walked and saved us the financial outlay of sacking him.

I expect there'll be numerous unemployed managers interested in a three month deal. They have nothing to lose. No one really expects them to keep us up so if they fail they won't be blamed. But if they miraculously save us from the drop they'll be a hero and probably get a longer contract, if they want it.

Why this sudden clamour for Steve Evans? Is it because he shouts and screams a bit?

Put his touchline antics to one side for a minute (Which I couldn't care less about) and he's a very poor manager. Signed some top players at posh and still got sacked because he couldn't get results.

The trouble is with every good example we can give to a manager ie Holloway at Palace you could offer Holloway at Millwall as an alternative, I'm sure that argument can be used for the majority of managers.

The emptiest criticism of all time is the 'style is rubbish'.

Its a competitive game, not a wanky day at the theatre, my sole demand is non-dire results.

We might never repeat the success he brought over a short period for decades again.

His football doesn’t come into it for me. He got results, we had a team who were always organised and always up for it. We always competed. I’ll never forget the villa home and away games for example. Being 3-0 up at Wembley in the first half, but yeah boring football.....
