It's about time we had a strong hard Twit in midfield who's prepared to dish it out. If he's anything like Mick Kennedy he will do for me.

 

Was Kennedy ‘hard’ or just cynical?

 

Very difficult in the modern game to have a player like Kennedy or Kammy for that matter, the powers that be are IMO trying to make it a non contact sport, having said that some of the play acting is very convincing, very difficult for referees, but with the modern techknowledgy we have VAR could offer input as the game continues.

But I remember people turning on Deano for persistent suspensions, and, wrong place, wrong time, Colbeck when he got sent off when we got relegated.

Getting sent off is never a good thing.

If he is that hard tackler we've lacked, it will be interesting to see how he performs alongside Reeves. Personally, I think it might call for more of an attacking midfielder than Reeves, but it will depend what formation we play I guess.

Wouldn’t say cynical... a tough nut however. He was at the back end of his career when with us so a tad slower. Unafraid of a tackle and his slower pace made him look cynical.

Use Joey Barton as your modern day comparison perhaps?

 

I saw Kennedy play - didn’t strike me as a hard man, just a nasty piece of work. Seemed to shirk if he came up against someone who wasn’t afraid of his reputation.

Agree not many got the better of Micky Kennedy, and there were some nasty b******s about in those days, could play a bit too when required.

he did some good stuff but I agree he was nasty. From what I remember if someone got the better of him he thought nothing of taking them out,often studs up, with no attempt whatsoever to get the ball. Obviously I was younger then and thought he was fantastic but still recognised it as cynical
