Time to up our expectations and look for 12!

 

Bit harsh that @Keefly Bantam thought we were in control for most of the 90 minutes and even the poorest display was worth a 5.

 

I won't say no to 12 but I'd take 10 now .

 

He was dog shit today. Plenty around me also pointed that out during the game.

Wasn't he supposed to be marking that lad who somehow headed down and over near the end?

So he gets a 3.

 

He won two superb headers in injury time when we were under the cosh. Also, Swindon created nothing of note down their left so to give him a 3 is at best incredibly harsh and at worst, pretty daft.

Don't get me wrong, he wasn't superb but he was no where near as poor as you're trying to make out.

 

Does seem harsh but i too thought he had a poor game, the only player for me who did, although to be fair O’Donnell had little to do.

 

I think Mellor does the basics of a fullback pretty well. He is a decent tackler, solid in the air and quite a physical presence for a fullback. It’s rare that an opposition winger runs him ragged for 90 minutes. However, his weakness is going forward. His crossing and passing leaves a lot to be desired and there are definitely occasions in every match that he will play is into trouble with a stray pass.

 

Well they were the only ones he won today. They attacked quite a bit down our left in the 2nd half. Surprised you didn't see that. There half time sub always tried to feed their left sided player.

 

Only reason we conceded was because Paudie slipped.

 

Just thinking aloud and I know it don't effect us but what was there keeper doing on the first goal?

Well struck by CD but putting the ball back into the centre of the goal....

 

Just blocked it as I recall? Don't think he had much of a plan!

 

We look like a team playing for one another now every player did well today and the tactics were spot on.

Majority of fans would agree all the players put a proper shift in today and would give a higher rating.

They deserved it. Played well today

 

The team looked good considering we had 3 first teamers out. I was fully expecting Oteh to partner Donaldson and Devine to come in for Palmer but Bowyer got his team selection spot on.

 

Just a question as much for others as you... If we have Ismail, Connelly and Wood do we really need Mellor to get forward and be an attacking presence outside of corners?

 

Wasn't he the guy who got jailed for drink driving?

 

Yeah fair point, although overlapping runs from the fullbacks are a big help for wingers as they usually open up a bit more space, especially with Ismali who looks like he wants to come inside when on the right wing.

To be honest, if Mellor overlaps and hits a bad cross into the box I can forgive that. What’s much worse is the loose passes he makes around that halfway line/just inside the opposition half which often lead to counter attacks.

 

Think so didn't he kill someone as well

 

Mellor crossing is poor but not he was a 5 out of 10 for me.

He needs to improve that's for sure.
