As did the guy in charge of the Manchester United youth squad who asked to take him to that tournament in Ireland, United won it and Oli was leading scorer.
He came back with a glowing reputation and I fully expected United to take him.

 

I wasn't and I thought it was far far too cheap.

Players get talked about at a young age and like I said he was raved about by the Scottish coaches and as @Bronco reminds us Utd wanted him to play in a tournament.

Parks was more than likely playing him because he heard the noises about him from others and wanted to get more money but knew he wasn't ready for 1st team football. Think Swansea brought him for the u21's at first.

Players develop at different ages, Hanson and Vardy are prime examples of that but as fans we want players to give us the wow factor straight away but you don't get under 19 national call ups and Utd looking at you if you haven't got vast potential.

 

Hanson and Vardy in the same breath...now there’s something you won’t see very often!

 

If we took the risk on Vardy like we did with Hanson then who knows...

Rumours that Vaughan hasn’t been training all week. Maybe Oteh up top with Doyle, but more likely the dreaded one up front with Doyle given the thankless task of dealing with all the hoof thrown at him.

 

I agree with Bronco that today could be season defining. We need as big a crowd as possible cheering us on. A win would do very nicely. An emphatic win would get everybody back on side. I don’t care to even contemplate the fall out from less than a win.
