    I think it's generally a case that it gives you a chance to see if they can get to the required level and if so puts the club in the perfect place to get them on a longer deal where they can really help out. Plus sometimes these kinds of initial deals are pretty cheap if they don't play as they are often very focused on appearance fees until they earn a longer deal with better terms for the player
