Seen a few people talk about Angols finishing needing to improve.
Perfect example of a player who wouldn’t be in league two if it did.
Yes he missed chances, and a couple of very good ones, but his pace, movement and touch were excellent yesterday - he deserves a lot of credit for being in the those positions.
Cook in contrast, didn’t miss chances, but neither did he create or get himself in positions to miss chances.
Positive start but as a team we need to be more efficient in front of goal, as well as ball retention (we gave it away sloppily far far too often) otherwise we’ll come unstuck against better teams.

Yes, red cards, penalties, disallowed goals - they're all big calls because they all have a profound impact on the game. Those are the particularly important decisions to get right, and he did. They're always important calls regardless of the time in the game. But to make that call as the last action in a game where the decision is likely to decide the outcome makes it an even more pressurised call for a ref to make.

Not the best performance yesterday , but with Sutton and Songo out and then losing Evans mid way through the game, who had not played that badly , we were bound to struggle in the midfield and we look a lot the worse when Cooke drops back there. We take the win and move on and hope we get a couple back from injury and maybe an addition or two.
On a side note four points from these two games compared to one point last season, is a good return against teams we can struggle against.

There are going to be a fair few games where Angol gets 1 or 2 chances not 4 or 5 and then it will matter more about his finishing which was hot and cold

Comparing him to Cook who had limited chances is fine but it doesn't tell me Angol will score more than Cook

Angol showed good movement as the game wore on but Oldham were really open and I think played three at the back

It will be different trying to break teams down when every shot matters

Anyway next time is red hot Stevenage so maybe it will be open again

    Tough game

He was nervous there was already some idiots giving him stick for earlier misses. And the crowd looked big enough to me

I’m commenting without actually being at the match, just back from a wedding do in Cheltenham!
I just wanted to point out to those moaning about our lack of possession.....
Last season under T & S we kept the ball brilliantly tried to play from the back, ultimately failed! Adam’s has a history of setting team up to press pressurise and hit teams on the break.
With the injured players back and maybe one more addition I think we will be there or there about, however anyone expecting City under Adam’s to boss the play will be very disappointed!!
I’ll take winning scrappy every day of the week over looking like a league two Barcelona whilst losing to Harrogate or bloody Barrow!!

I can take the moral high ground having missed the game........but really......when they scored I’d probably have said something unprintable and flounced out!!

    Why are they idiots?
He missed chances at Exeter and Forest so his misses yesterday could have cost us.
When strikers miss chances they get stick. That’s life

I think some people are misunderstanding Adams style of play. Lots of times this year we wont dominate possession but its chances created which is key
    Sacrificed success (hopefully) for style.

Because he's a player that needed a chance and Adams has given him the chance he wouldn't be in this position if he was on red hot form and full of confidence

Anyone giving Angol loads of stick is short sighted and will struggle to support Adams if they can't even support a forward finding his feet again

I was well annoyed with his miss second half but you have to stay calm especially at this stage

Angol's first goal came from a Cook assist ;).

Maybe we should bring in a specialist shooting coach to try and improve his technique when shooting, He has the talent but the amount of misses may well be down to bad technique that may be improved with a dedicated coach
Might do others some good as well so would be worth the outlay

Of course you can teach how to strike the ball correctly and what part of the boot will do what, This with teaching better balance and the time better composure will bring, Natural talent will only take you so far that is why we have coaches in the first place in most sports with some even having sports psychologists
