Didn’t watch today’s game then

 

I didn't think you could class a merc as top class.

It's hard to win a header when the CB has his arms around your neck dragging you backwards.Cook didn't get a foul all game even though it was obvious to see and the ref should have clamped down on it from the off.

 

I find it very strange that there is to be no POTG this season, seems a lost financial opportunity to me..

 

You can still pay on the day but either have to get a ticket from the ticket office or go online and get an e-ticket on your phone.

 

Because we gave him a stupid 3 year contract on decent money that no-one will take over !

 

Buzzing right now. Really looking forward to being back at VP again this afternoon.

Lets hope the lads do us proud.

 

If we don't have another defensive midfielder the lets not try to push someone into a role that doesn't suit them.

Play with Watt in front of the back four and structure the attacking players ahead of them.

We're at home for goodness sake, we don't need to be set up with so many defensive players on the pitch!

 

Probably because he's had to do more work than anyone else on the pitch.

Thought we were poor today. Oldham ran rings round us in midfield and always had the easy switch out wide. We struggled to get a grip of the game and the composure on the ball was lacking. Too much hoofball to Cook when he wasn't winning a thing in the air.

But for all their good play, Oldham were pretty useless in the final third.

We had more chances in front of goal but again our finishing was terrible. I can't believe nobody noticed their keeper was injured and if we'd have just got some efforts on target then I'm sure we would've scored more.

 

Thought Oldham had a lot of possession but I can't recall ROD having many actual saves to make obvs apart from the goal. He did make a good block in the first half.

We should have been 3/4-0 up when they scored.

Would like to see the pen tackle again was not sure as I thought Angol went down quite easily. Happy it was given though.

You would think after all this time people would be a bit more chilled but the absolute bell ends in front of me were at the team from minute 1. Get out they constantly shouted. Close him down. Christ you would think they were watching PL football.

Good job they were crap up top though otherwise we would have been looking at a home defeat.

Would like to make my mind up about how good we are once we have our best 11 on the pitch.

Vernham was a threat late on.

Finally to both sets of fans today-you were superb. Apart from the lone Oldham fan near the back who leapt over the netting to throw a few haymakers after we scored the winner.

I’m going to watch highlights on Quest later but if it’s the same editor as last week I suspect they might not bother with the penalty and have it down as a 1-1 draw.

 

Over the last 3 games Angol has got himself into some great positions to score, yes today he should have scored more but that will come with confidence he's certainly not short of ability.

 

Angol seems to lack composure with his finishing. He’s mobile though and his link play is good.

 

The keeper should have saved both those.
Let's just be happy he didn't.

Cooke did well to bamboozle the Oldham defence late on, Andy Cook should have let him get his shot away but Andy Cook challenging for the same ball put Callum off.
Were 3 games into a new season and have created chances against all 3 opposition teams, I'd be more worried if we weren't creating chances.

The contrast with recent seasons, where we were creating next to nothing and relying on the occasional worldy, or opposition mistake, is pretty stark.
Yes, we definitely need to get more clinical in front of goal, but I'd far rather be creating lots of chances, even if we miss plenty, than expecting to score from two or three chances per game.

 

If he's never played in front of a crowd like that then it's not surprising he was nervous, especially since the kick was going to determine the game's result.
Hopefully, getting the two goals and the crowd's appreciation will do wonders for his confidence.
