TBF, we’ve looked shaky at the back all season, even with BRE. The number of clean sheets is testament to that.

And let’s not forget, prior to his sending off, he had had his worst spell for us. Was at fault for 2 goals in the 2 games prior to that sending off and AO’C has actually deserved his place. Didn’t he clear one off the line yesterday?

 

I Clocked that. I don't doubt their is the potential in Paudie to achieve but it dose not have to happen all in this season. He's gone have to be patient, inevitably he is learning and prone to errors /misreading in a game. The clubs ambition must be to get promoted, thus AOC must be the rock at the heart of the defence. The other two will fight for the secondary position.

 

For me, it’s down to form. He who shows the better form gets the shirt. And at this moment in time, AO’C is the form defender. BRE started very well but his last few games prior to his red, were not so good. Now he has to win the shirt back. Simple as that

 

Its a good dilemma to have. I agree with you about Paudie, definitely not drop him. Dropping AOC might also seem harsh, but think we look stronger with BRE at the back, so I would bring him back in. I dont like playing 3 at the back at this level, so unlucky as it may seem, I would have AOC make way

BRE is our best CD along with Paudie. Yes, hash on AOC who has don't we'll but he is 3rd in line and is cover.

Mellor needs to up his game but starts if fit.

If we play with the formation that's been working of late the Vaughan starts on the bench because we need Donaldson strength up top.

 

What a nice situation for Bowyer to be in should he drop Paudie or AOC to bring BRE back, and should he drop one of our attacking options to bring Vaughan back, when the likes of Palmer, Devitt and Reeves are back to match fitness that will be a bigger dilemma.

 

Nah, hasn't been for years. Us and Dog Botherer's usually at home same Saturday. Police can't police them and anyone else at same time.

 

BRE is our best CB in the air, without a doubt. But AOC is better on the deck. BRE cost us a valuable away point at Cheltenham with an unnecessary tackle from behind and them got himself sent off doing the same thing.
Since he's been out we've played better as a team and our midfield has improved via Cooke and Akpan's better form. AOC is much better at linking play with the midfield than BRE so there's a very good case for retaining him. He's been a significant part of our recent better results and should keep his place, unless Crawley have a big beast up front.

 

Its a bloody good position to be in, whom ever is selected to play today. Last season we were scratching around for one decent centre half in form, never mind three.

BRE makes exciting recovery tackles. As someone who has played centre back, I prefer AoC, who reads the game better and so does not get caught out as much and have to make last ditch recovery tackles. As a pairing, though, they work well. The great news is Paudie also works pretty well with them. I'm not sure of I prefer Paudie to BRE or not. I'll reserve judgement on that but, obviously, Paudie is good and has loads of potential to develop. Maybe, we might have to decide at the end of the season on who scores most goals. I think they'll all get a few. AoC scored 6 last season so I could see him getting more if he plays regularly. Plus he distributes the ball better so long as he doesn't drop the odd hollywood howler. AoC is best but I'm pleased to say there's not much in it and perfectly happy with the other two.

Don't change a winning team, especially the back 4. Tinkering leads to trouble. We've seen this many times in the past. Players that play well and get dropped sometimes stop playing well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

It's the midfield. As soon as we need to use Devine or Anderson it's not far off playing with 10 men. First half we were very good, but once Pritchard went off, we lost our grip. And yes, I know Devine got a goal thanks to a deflection but hes nowhere near the level of Pritchard

 

The whole team seemed to tire after their initial high pressure game. Vaughan was harshly treated but have to say he isnt bringing much especially when tired.

 

Lack of depth. Missed Donaldsons hold up play.

 

Think most would struggle to disagree with that.
