Hopefully with the homecoming over and nerves out the way, the players will relax more and take more of the chances we create. Ideally we score first, Stevenage have to push on becoming more open and we hit them again on the counter.

Well we don’t need to worry about Reeves. Just pull his hair and he’ll be injured for 2 years robbing a wage.

They cannot cope when we break with the ball. No one less than a 7 this half.

    Cook is unplayable.

Vernham is scaring the life out of their full back

What a half of football that was!

Vernam has very much justified his start with an excellent performance. He and Ridehalgh have linked up well with the formers delivery into the box been decent. Gilliead and Cooke also been very good.

Cook - how good is it to see a City no. 9 with the ability to finish. His 3rd was absolutely class whilst the CB pulled his shirt back showed great persistence.

To be fair to Angol, I think he’s also had a good game despite the penalty miss (credit to keeper it was a decent save) and he and Cook looking good together up front so far.

We need to be careful though. List up top for them looks really dangerous and is absolutely lightening quick - we need to be very cautious of been hit on the counter.

To be fair to me, I saw the post when I was posting the lineup, checked who @Mike Hunt@Mike Hunt had quoted and checked that post and it didn't have @NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey post being quoted in that. There was like 4 pages of posts and was doing a million thing so going and checking if somewhere he had also posted and then choose to reply to me when I didn't quote him was well down my list. As I said I checked the quote chain

And thats fine, I have no problem if you decide its too much hassle to take part. It was just saying that adding a couple of names making it too complicated that I found odd.

Anwya you could just submit without the scorers if you wanted (or just randomly add the same name however many times you think city will score). The thing is with just the score we would most likely see about 30 people end up on the same score. Just doing the score works if you are doing say a League 2 prediction league as you are having them predict every match so you will get plenty of variation but you don't on a single club's matcheswhere you need some extra variables

TBH its much simplier than it was. Before we asked for the time of the first goal (or yellow if its a 0-0 prediction) because we gave bonus points for who was closest in their prediction but if more than 1 had the closest result/score/scorers combo we needed a way to separate them. We have moved to actually just giving bonus points for a perfect prediction where it doesn't matter if it's 1, 20 or no one who gets a perfect prediction.

What really impressed me was the number of times that we won the ball when it was bouncing around in midfield. That denotes a determination that has been sadly lacking of late.

The difference is that now we have so many outlets when playing from defence. Last season on the rare occasions a midfielder came to receive the ball from a CB or FB he passed it straight back to the defender. Last night we had players comfortable receiving the ball all over the pitch

I'm really surprised at those possession figures. It felt like we had much more possession than Stevenage. At the start of the second half they hardly touched the ball for quarter of an hour.

Quite strange how often after a poor performance/result Park is one of the first to comment and defend the crap. Yet last night which was arguably our best performance in years he’s still not give his thoughts on, maybe the egg on his face regarding Cook who he thinks is crap hasn’t fully washed out of his eyes yet.

I think if Oldham and Stevenage teach us anything it's that different teams will struggle with different players so those saying Angol was all that after Oldham and that Cook wasn't getting it done looked foolish after Stevenage

It's too early to say that Angol will suddenly be prolific but it's reasonably likely that Cook will score 15-20 goals which also would imply he'll draw quite a few blanks

    That's how it goes

Personally not bothered who the best player is as long as we keep finding weaknesses in the opponent's and if we do that who cares who scores

Me too. Noticed that players are getting up really quickly as well when they realise they are not getting soft free kicks.

Can’t see him resting anybody tonight this is a tough game Revell has done a great job there. Many Fordy clones will be there tonight thinking it’s only little Stevenage we only need to turn up to win

An insight into the way Adams plays his teams

It’s about how many times you get the ball in the opposition’s penalty area!
