McCall looks to have finally found a balanced midfield trio in Cooke-Watt-Pritchard. No more tinkering there please Stuart, especially when its windy. It was an insult to Watt to suggest he couldn't be effective in the conditions at Barrow.

 

He offered nothing as a striker replacing Donaldson. Clayton was hardly a serious threat either but as a wing back DMH should be behind Hosannah and French and I’d probably play Sutton or Evans ahead of him too. I’d play Hosannah as an orthodox winger before Dylan. The squad is desperately thin on quality but DMH is one of the poorer players alongside Guthrie and on the evidence so far Samuels. The amazing thing is in the few games DMH played last season he offered no reason to sign him so it’s a mystery to me why he’s here. If the whole squad was fit he shouldn’t even make the bench. And if that’s the case under a salary you’d be better off with a junior player than paying a senior pro.

 

He's supposed to be a winger, but he never ever takes on his fullback, just constantly turns and passes back/inside. He's supposed to be quick but I haven't seen him outpace anyone yet. As a consequence he has completely failed in his primary job of getting to or near the byline and getting crosses into the box. So our (poor) strikers have been starved of chances.
Ironically, when played centrally against Southend he decided to take on two or three defenders at once, several times, and predictably ran into brick walls, losing the ball.
I just haven't seen anything that he's actually good at, so far. As a home produced player I'd love to see him succeed, but he looks well below Football League standard at present.

His stubbornness will be his downfall. We struggled to score when he had 4 fit strikers, we’re now down to a kid who can’t get on against Southend. Rupp or Rhodes need to have a word with him. Stop dilly dallying and get someone in. The quicker they’re in, the quicker they’re fit, the quicker they can help out.
