One win in ten in the league for Port Vale. A big chance of 3 points tomorrow. Vital we get them in my opinion.

We're in that bit in the table now where a win won't affect the position that much in an upwards way but it pushes us clearer of the relegation spots.

Be interesting to see how we go against a team that won't necessarily be as attacking unlike Crawley, Cambridge, Tranmere who'd all been scoring goals and had goalscorers at the top of the charts.

I suspect what we'll see is we're lacking a bit of attacking pace/quality in the 3 roles that we have supporting Novak but let's hope I'm proven wrong!

 

Would it be that bad if this game was carried over to the new year when we might have strengthened up front.. ?

 

Yep spot on - won 1, drawn 2 lost 7 in the last 10 league games. If you take it to more recent i.e. last 5 games - still not great, 1 win 2 draws 2 losses. Weirdly that one win was 6-3 at Bolton! They have actually conceded 4 more in the league than we have...

 

No doubt Pope waddles about not looking like a striker then pops up at the back post to nod a goal in.

Tomorrow has the promise of a score draw, but it's certainly a winnable match and I'd like to think that we will do so.

Yeah I agree, I think we'd struggle to break down a side that sat back against us.

Novak has done really well, but I think he'd struggle up against a side that parked the bus.

Luckily for us, we've been so bad that nobody has been inclined to play that way... Yet!

 

3-0 to the city with another disciplined performance. Onwards and upwards, good luck to the all new management team for the rest of the season.

 

I think the unbeaten run will continue under Trueman and Sellars, but think we will have to settle for a draw in this one. 3 points would be handy though, now we haven't got a game on Saturday

 

Just listened to the press conference on I Follow. Jamie Raynor asked Conor about Guthrie.He was out of the last squad because of illness but tested negative for Covid.
Jamie also asked if the club had thought of cancelling the injury prone Zeli's contract and whether Richards Everton and Motley Henry would ever get back in the squad.
I am sure Simon Parker will pick up on the answers to fill some column inches.

 

Yes. I'd much rather we played them while we are on a hot run and hopefully take the points. Our confidence is sky high and theirs is low at present.
Remember two seasons back? We had a winning streak in December/New Year followed by a layoff due to cancellations. We lost our momentum completely and got relegated.
Let's take all the points we can, when we can. If good reinforcements arrive in January, so much the better, but I'd still rather we strike while the iron's hot.

Heart says 2-0. Head says 1-1. They were expected to be much higher in the table than they are. I hope the lads prove me wrong. We are yet to fall behind at any point under the caretakers but have a feeling that may change tomorrow. I think we’ll batter them thereafter but go away with a point.
