Not sure you can attribute an awful lot of blame to Hornby for the Morecambe goal.

 

We shouldn’t stop being ambitious and accept lower division football because of our history. Wigan athletic spent most of the last century in non league but we don’t see them saying that’s where their meant to be. We spent from 1985 to 2004 - 19 years -with 13 of them in the top two divisions and that’s where we should aspire to be.

 

Think Noel was a better header of the ball tbh

 

The first glimpse of Rowe and Vernam together was very promising. Their awareness of space, choice and weight of pass is very good. Watch how Vernam runs at players - its not random or aimless, he's opening up spaces for others. Verham and Hossanah down the right could be absolutely dynamite. Our forward options are now completely transformed. We aren't far away from being promotion quality. T&S looked to have made a tweak at HT too; we moved the ball quicker and Evans came narrower between the midfield and forward lines, which always gave us an out ball. Cooke continues to shine too, I thought he had a very good game. If we could add a real midfield enforcer with energy and presence (Bahamboula please!) We'd be a match for anyone.

 

And drawing upon Sparks comments, T&S certainly do deserve the applause from a VP crowd for their hard work and excellent turnaround in attitude, performance and results

 

Well done lads that was a great game and performance. Special mention to AOC thought he was gonna get roasted by their excellent player Mendes Gomez but after a shaky start put in a right shift + a goal to boot. Another special mention to Canavan who was an absolute rock in his full debut.

 

Looking forward to seeing Vernam and Rowe in the same team. Both look to be excellent acquisitions so far.

 

So it's Tuesday and the weather forecast looks decent. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I'm starting to think there might actually be a game of football to watch tonight.

 

Fantastic to come from a goal behind against genuine promotion contenders. Don’t know what was said at half time but we looked brilliant second half. Well done lads!

 

A big feather in the cap for T&S tonight. Coming from behind against Morecambe isn't easy and whatever they said/did at HT led to a very good second half performance

I agree but I feel Connor Wood is getting a hard time at present. Yes he makes mistakes and no he's not hit the heights we thought he might but last night I read someone even directly blaming him for the goal?

Yeah he could have been closer but there's not a full back in the world stopping a cross that was sliced at least 10 yards from where he was probably aiming. It's just daft to even suggest it.

AOC? Yeah I make you right. He should make us more solid defensively and as we've seen, he likes to pop up here and there and grab an odd goal. It'll be his spot to lose from now I think.

 

Can we put Mendez Gomez on our shopping list please?

You're right @StaffordBantam, there were a few saying "we'll see what happens when we lose a match", well, we have now. Stuck to their plan and had faith in it and the players showed they're growing as a team. Smashing effort.

 

Really enjoyed that game. Some of the one touch football was a joy to see. A little better finishing and anticipation we could have won that comfortably. That’s a decent squad we have there.

 

I’m not sure why you’re looking to drop Hornby, who’s been in a side that’s lost 1 of the last 6 games. Their goal was a lucky one for me and it would be harsh to blame him for that. I’m much more confident when the high balls come into the box, that he’ll catch the ball rather than O’Donnell who doesn’t command his 6 yard box.

As for O’Donnell as skipper, that was another McCall error that T & S have rectified. No way should he be skipper in my opinion. He’s someone who can’t organise the defence let alone the rest of the side. He should only be brought back in, if Hornbys performances affect results. At this moment in time they’re not so he deserves to keep the shirt.

 

Whilst Clarke is going to find it hard to get his place back he has been a big part of the good run we are on and will be useful as the season unfolds
