I sort of get the disgruntlement as any goals are discounted in rearranged fixtures, but is it really ok to write off wreckless play during what is a live game of professional football? Studs up straight red leading to a broken leg, as an extreme example, to get the debate rolling.

 

True but we aren't talking red are we ? And you only get away with a yellow for a studs up leg breaker if your name is Kevin Gray

 

So it's Tuesday and the weather forecast looks decent. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I'm starting to think there might actually be a game of football to watch tonight.

 

Well, there might be a match on, a game of football might be pushing it a bit...

 

I didn't realise Mellor and NKP are at Morecambe. Amazing the amount of players who were underwhelming here, who're involved at top 7 clubs in this league.

 

We could exploit the lack of pace of those 2 if we had a pacy forward line

 

They were underwhelming for us in L1, not L2.
Actually, NKP was a mixed bag. He had periods when he looked really good for us. In our Wembley playoff season, under Stuart, he looked class alongside Vincelot and then Rory. At Bury (again in L1) he was nicknamed Rolls Royce because he looked so classy. I think he's a good player in a team with good players around him. Not so good in a muck and nettles scrap though.
Mellor never convinced me though. Could be good going forward but always had a mistake in him or got caught out of position. I'd fancy Vernham or Crankshaw to give him problems.

 

I never rated Mellor at all. NKP started well but then faded badly. Towards the end he was a liability. Based on their contributions here, I'd rather have the options we do to be honest.

 

Yep, today's the day. the day the mighty Morecambe come to town.....poor Stuart would have been crapping himself......

 

If we're on song tonight we should be able to collect 3 points. I'll be asking the wife for a tenner for sure!

 

Gosh it's been a while since so many have had it in for our opponents' reputation

We don't win because they're Morecambe

 

Yet, the table doesn't lie?

And to separate our form....



That said Jon, since their Chelsea cup defeat 4-0, they have managed 2 wins in 7. Won 5 of 6 prior to Chelsea game. Ultimately though, only 2 defeats in 10.

Certainly won't be easy, especially if we revert to cutting out midfield and giving up possession far too easily, forced (of our own making?) deeper by long balls....
But I'm confident of not losing tonight. 1-1 draw

 

Agree Mellor came with expectations but never really did it at VP.

And agree NKP started out well - always remember the amount of black-eyes and bruises he sported from previous games after getting stuck-in. Looked quite lack-lustre for their defence when we beat Carlisle 3-1 at home last season.

 

We have no right to expect to beat anyone on 'reputation'. Neither should we fear anyone. I'm keen to see this group of players and management team pushed hard between now and May, so we can judge their readiness and fit for next season on the best terms possible.

 

Win for me tonight. 3/1 Mellow howler for the third.
