An enjoyable watch but just shows the difference between the two leagues. Everything Lincoln did was quicker in midfield, moving ball faster, reacting to loose balls quicker. The amount of times Cooke was asking for the ball to be played quicker and for players to make themselves available for a pass was alarming. Thankfully we won't play teams of that standard every week but this team still has glaring weaknesses that we'll have to hope don't cost us too many results.

 

Good opportunity for those on the fringes to stake a claim. What they don’t want, is to come away from the game reaffirming their place on the bench or in the stands, but showing they are capable and ready to push for a starting place next Saturday. Meaningless game to most fans, but is the first real opportunity for a lot of the players who need game time.

 

It's an abomination of a competition and at the thin end of a wedge when it comes to maintaining a league of 92 independent football clubs against the franchise expansion of a handful of over entitled big clubs who would not pause for a second to wipe a smaller club out of business if they thought there was half a chance of getting their B team in to L2.

Not a chance on earth that I'll be going tonight or to any other match in this competition in its present state.

Agree. Even though I think the competition is laughable, I’m actually planing to watch on ifollow as interested to see those who have had little game time actually get some minutes. For all its laughable structure it’s still a competition with something at stake. Winning breeds a winning mentality. Adams has made it clear he likes to win, even in friendlies. I’d like to think he puts that expectation on the players he selects for tomorrow and in that case, I hope it might be on ok game.

Of course it could equally backfire, we have a shocker with fringe players having a shocker and all hell will break loose on here demanding Adams be fired and blaming ROD, Songo’o and Evans for the result even if they didn’t play!

Get over yourselves! This is a good Lg 1 side. For me, sooner we're out of this pointless pizza cup the better. We need to concentrate and be totally full focus on getting out of League Two.

 

Totally disagree. Thank God we're out of the what do you want on your Pizza cup. All we want is promotion. I couldn't even give a toss about an FA Cup run, as long as we concentrate everything on going up as Lg Champs or automatic promoted. City! League 1! Isn't that what we all want? Anything else is a mind wearying distraction. Promotion. And just let me repeat that. PROMOTION.

Much rather concentrate on achieving promotion however a near full strength City side were soundly beaten
by a half strength Lincoln side it shows how far we have to go to realise our ambitions of sustaining L1 football never mind the dream of Championship football, on this evidence L2 is closer to the National League than L1
Hopefully we already have an eye on L1 so tonight's result in that perspective shows cause for concern

1 ex Liverpool Academy (I think)

That’s picking up players..just as Peterborough have done for 25 years.

Likely the case and I understand clubs taking it serious but the powers, need to reconnect fans with the competition. It's never been well supported but since the u21s joined, support has diminished further.

Football is nothing without fans.

 

For heavens sake..we are running a business and have to take EVERY opportunity to increase income. Therefore should be taken seriously.
