I posted this in the "Sack the manager thread" but I think it's a relevant response here as well.

When was the last time we replaced a manager part way through the season and it led to a significant upturn in our form that season?

Just from my own memory. Bowyer? No. Hopkin? No. Grayson? No. Parkinson? No. Jackson? No. Taylor? No. Wetherall? No. Robson? No. Law? No. Hutchinson? No.

I can't think of a time we have replaced a manager part way through a season and achieved a significantly better outcome the same season. It's a fantasy.

It's not about an up turn though. It clearly does happen Stoke, Spurs, Huddersfield all examples we clearly picked the wrong manager each time.

It's not about the upturn as I think you're missing the point. It's about the lack of direction and football identity plus it's clear Bowyer isn't the man for the club.

Managers get sacked during the season. It would be extremely foolish to keep Bowyer when fans are not happy with him.

I'm not going. Can't bring myself to watch any more of Bowyer Ball. Can be a bit of a pain getting there midweek from work and it's just not worth the effort for the entertainment and joy I'll get in return. You go to watch goals and be entertained. Bowyer couldn't be further from what I see as football.

I don’t see the logic in this post. The likes of Hopkin, Parkinson, Grayson etc inherited dire squads and often had to contend with issues that extended far beyond the shite players at their disposal. As the saying goes, “you can’t polish a turd”.

The difference here is that many of us believe the current squad is amongst the best in the league and is capable of achieving automatic promotion- a luxury that few City managers have had at their disposal. We have statistically one of the best defences in the league, the most prolific strike force in the division by an absolute distance and a midfield trio of Cooke, Pritchard and Devitt who have a proven track record of being able to create and score.

Produce me a list as comprehensive as the one you’ve just provided but this time account for the mitigating factors that would make a new managers life easier over the list of names you’ve given , of which there are several, and I’ll take this post a bit more seriously. If you somehow manage it, all it proves is that we’re shit at recruiting managers as much as anything else.

I am definitely coming over for this match which is very important in respect of the season beat Cheltenham and there is a good gap there lose it and we are out of the top seven for the first time this season.
Our home form by in large is good so there is absolutely no reason we can not win this.
Coming off four away matches out of the last five where we got a great point at Swindon and a good one at Colchester inter spacing two very poor defeats we have to get back to winning ways and we will

Cheltenham haven't won away from home in the league since October. I'd say a win for them on Tuesday night is practically nailed on. Reversing other teams poor form is what we do.

Even under Hopkin I would've thought maybe we'll actually turn up this game.

But right now I can't see this team doing anything or beating anyone. We watched us thrash/convincingly beat more teams during a relegation season, and we're 7th. This team can't even string a pass together outside of our own box. McGee is our best passer and that's only because he's just arrived.

He is the one player who should be ok. Our goal keeping coach seems pretty decent.

Can’t believe what I’m reading. The form speaks for itself?! Wake up. Bowyer and the team are in free fall. Look at the teams we are mixing with on the form table :joy: How can you dress it up any differently?

Sorry mate I could never hope my team lose, the people at the top know the performances have been poor resently, I can see Rupp questioning the situation and asking Julian's opinion would Julian tell him it's time for a change when I would think Julian was the major factor in Bowyer getting the job.
Just looking at it in financial terms sacking the manager and assistant, Doyle still here big ask for a Rupp who has little knowledge of how football works except seeing more money being required for things at the club he though might not need until next season.
Then the new manager and his backroom staff to finance a big call.

You've been a member of C&B and on here long enough to know patience and long term are words that are unacceptable to many.

Let's hope Swindon come back with an acceptable offer at least then Doyle does not become a problem in selection/ formations, he was possibly the best of a shocking bunch yesterday but he isn't the answer to our problems IMO.

If there was an identity with the team or you could see what the manager is trying to implement I think we would be patient enough as per the PP era. This what I'm witnessing at the minute is a shambles with a manager devoid of ideas or any motivational skills. We are in free fall and he's lost the players and the fans there's no return from yesterday. Why let us die a slow death when we have the chance to try rectify it.
