Maybe you haven't but others have claimed its damaging to the kids. And how many people started their career in the military when they had kids. Most start in their teens before they have a family so is it that they want to be going away or is it that they have no choice. And rig workers for example, is it a choice or is it the only thing they are qualified to do and the only way they can do to support the family. People at times have to make difficult choices for the wider good.

It's not embracing family life but rather people wanting their cake and eating it. There is a compromise somewhere that needs to be made. As I said either it needs to be made so that schools can remain open fully without causing mass spreading (Right now it's a major issue as those attending schools are key workers, its potentially causing major spread amongst just key workers which is a major issue. Its certain key workers who are most likely to get it while in lockdown and you have no firebreaks between key groups) or they need to be open to holding kids back a year or having them take classes during holidays to catch up

My son's school has said that out of around 430 pupils, they've had over 200 critical worker applications. That's pretty much half of the school, and makes closing schools pretty pointless really.

not just that, they have said today if people don’t have access to laptops/devices for each child they are classed as vulnerable and can go to school or have no/not enough internet access

True, but if key workers kids didn't go to school what would happen? Its tricky. More online stuff needs to be done. My child went backwards at home but shot forwards when back at school so I was gutted when schools closed

There's a very good link going round showing how to use game systems for schooling, with clip on keyboards which are far far cheaper

Agree. Kids will go backwards and then have to pay off the debt, quite a lot of the time for some old people who don't give a damn. I stood behind an old couple moaning about lockdown without masks on.

Same with mine. It was a struggle trying to get him to do his school work in the home environment during Lockdown 1, and that was just an hour a day. He's only 6 but his maths and phonics went backwards mainly because he couldn't be arsed. When he went back to school, in the structured environment, he behaved impeccably and excelled again.

I'm technically a 'critical worker' as I'm involved in food and cleaning supplies production and distribution, so we'll be sending him to school from Monday.

I've played the key worker as I'm in the Utility Industry. It was a bit selfish of me but as a parent kids come first

From what I hear the general consensus among teachers is that it will likely be a lot longer than that. Unions apparently don't want them reopening until teaching staff are immunised, which won't likely be until the Summer.

I can’t see that being accepted by the government? Surely not.

I was reading the guidance for schools today (that was only released by the Government this afternoon). Reading between the lines it's clear they didn't actually want to close the school's but that due to the pressure from the Unions they felt it had to. Even before the guidance was released this was pretty clear, it's why far more children qualify now and why the class bubbles are no longer restricted in terms of numbers.

They are not closed though are they. Teachers are still working and at risk now.
