Damned if you do damned if you don’t.

I bought a season ticket to support the club. If season ends up cancelled so be it, I’m not going to cry over a match being postponed, or the season if it pans out that way. It’s £150, about 3 cheap nights out.

So the EFL's guidance after one positive test is to shut down the club for two weeks. Absolute farce, the season will never finish at this rate. Yet the PL can carry on as normal after multiple tests. What a shock the EFL haven't got a clue once again.

Surely now the EFL need to tell Grimsby to get on with it and fulfill their fixtures next week?

    I agree.

Additionally, it beggars belief that the EFL has, seemingly, not got a set protocol for dealing with such occurrences.

Yes. At the moment Grimsby have said the game is off but it is the EFL who actually sanction it being called off. This all comes down to Grimsby not wanting to pay for the necessary testing.

Like many fans I have always thought this would happen.

One of the few professions where employees don't have to socially distance whilst going about their job, it was always inevitable.

This season is going to be a mess and disjointed until it eventually gets curtailed, hence my reason not to renew season tickets

We really do need to be moving away from panicking about every single individual positive test or Covid case.

What's the average national age in the UK, 6?

Is this the best strategy we have?

If cup games have to be forfeited, why don’t league games? Would give an incentive to make players be extra cautious?

Yet we play every year with colds and flus.. over kill in the extreme cancelling games. Could be it for many teams if this carries on.

I hope the club push for the games to go ahead. Surely the EFL can not be allowing matches to be called off for a single positive test

City won’t catch it off Stevenage, we never get close enough to any opposition players. We have social distancing off to a fine art.

Wouldn't shock me that some clubs are now wanting for the season to end due to no fans coming back any day soon.

They'll then try to get handouts to cover the cost of the season.

The EFL have to put measures in place now because we can't be having games just being called off or not knowing whats going on less than 24 hours before a game.

Good interview with Ryan Sparks on Radio Leeds just now.

Ryan really annoyed at how Stevenage and Grimsby have gone about communication, or lack of it directly with City, about the 2 respective games coming up.

Ryan has stated that as far as he is concerned the Grimsby matches still on until he hears otherwise from the EFL. He said it is not the decision of Grimsby's chairman to postpone the match

Well done Ryan for his stance and the open interview

What I also don't get is the Grimsby youth player that has tested positive is currently on loan to Spalding United so presumably won't have been in contact with the first team squad anyway?

If the game was off at the direction of the league it would be postponed, as it is our game is on and the Grimsby/Cheltenham game is suspended as Grimsby said they couldn’t safely fulfil the fixture.

Lack of leadership from the EFL

As far as I understand, a contact of a contact does not have to isolate unless the original contact develops symptoms. If someone in your home works closely with someone who tests positive, they isolate and rest of your family only need to isolate if your family member develops symptoms. I think that’s right.

He was a second half sub for Spalding last weekend. If he is playing for them but still training with the Grimsby squad during the week that seems very foolish, given the current circumstances.
