Maybe he was referring to the Play off final v Millwall.

The problem we’re now encountering is players are getting wise to the rules. If a counter attack is on, players will stay down & feign a head injury

Maybe after a head injury is treated they should go off the pitch and be assessed there for possible concussion.
This would make players a little less likely if they know they're going to spend 2 or 3 minutes on the sideline whilst play continues.JudgeMental and loz like this. -
It's getting silly. It's used to affect the game.
I think we should start keeping stats on players who go down with a "head injury".
After a certain number of "head injury" incidents, a player should have to sit out a game as a concussion precaution. They might not have concussion, but so many "blows to the head" can be damaging.
This way, we don't negate the seriousness of head injuries, but in incidents where players are clutching their heads to affect the game in some way, they may think twice.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...QCFC BANTAM and loz like this. -

When Webster ran off after his 'injury', it was the fastest he had run all game.

Head injuries dont always mean concussion. If a player has a cut, which some staples or glue and a bandage will sort out, and if the physio has gone through the correct procedure identifying that the player didnt lose consciousness, the player manager and physio all are happy for him to continue, so be it

It was to Carlisle's advantage to twice go down with a head injury today. I genuinely have no idea if they were faking it or not, so it might just have been one of those days.
Referees have to go with the rules, which err on the side of caution for good reason. I don't think you can put it on a referee to judge if a head injury is fake or not. Let's hope the majority of players and clubs prefer to avoid gaming the system on this.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Fordy117 likes this. -

Daftest thing was making the City player involved in the clash who did not need or receive treatment go off the pitch along with their player who had.

I have a simple solution to the increasing number of head injuries during a game and that's to learn from other sports.
Rugby Union introduced the concept of players being treated on pitch by medics/physios whilst the game continues several years ago. It could be introduced into football with the ref (or even the 4th official) allowing the medics to enter the field of play in the event of a potential head injury whilst play continues. That would ensure real injuries are dealt with without delay; it wouldn't penalise the attacking team and it would stop what appears to be a growing number of fake injuries designed to disrupt play deliberately. The 'injured' player would still be expected to leave the pitch with the physio and not return until allowed by the ref.Pineapple Salesman likes this. -

Isn't the physio there to make that call? -
According to Simon Parker when Webster was getting abuse from the crowd today after the game had been stopped for his head injury he made a 1-0 signal at the City fans. At the time we were winning, surely a sign of concussion

Anyone with suspected concussion must be removed from play immediately. There is a Graduated Return To Play protocol but this differs for grassroots and professional clubs. Grassroots clubs - player must rest for 14 days, only after this time and free of symptoms can they resume any type of physical activity and then return to full physical activity over the next 14/21 days. For professional clubs it is different as they have Enhanced Care Facilities so the timeframe is very different and much shorter. They have access to MRI and CT scans so can assess players in more detail to ensure no damage and hence can return to play much quicker.
But yes some teams do seem to make a meal of it to stop play when outnumbered!!
One of the funniest things though now is that the players don't seem to know the new rules when ref stops play!! Team in possession when ref blows have to get it back in the same place as when whistle blown...none of this give the ball to opposition to boot it back to goalie and lose position. -
