For me, PP had even more. Even young lads like McHugh would run through a brick wall and Gary Thompson really stepped up in some big moments.

The thing that hits home is that all through the dross we’ve seen this season at home only a couple of players look like they give a shit.
Stubbs bollocked Osadebe in one game and he just walked away shrugging his shoulders.

Our captain in 99% of games just looks disinterested and I’ve mentioned before that if you didn’t see the toss before the game you would have no idea who was captain.

In fact,you’d probably think it was Stubbs as he is the only vocal player we’ve got.

A tough back four, a choice of four midfield players who could all leave a mark, two wingers who got stuck in and the Hanson upfront who was ready to die for the cause. I'd say the only one in that team with a lack of aggression was Wells and only because Hanson did the dirty stuff for him, leaving him free to score goals. Take that cup run out of the equation and I reckon PP's 12/13 team would have been champions.

 

I wasn't blaming supporters for the result.
I am sick of seeing crap performances from both players and management clapped off as if we've won 3-0.

And just think that same Wigan team went on that season to win the FA cup, it was a very good cup side.

 

I think these players become warriors when they play in a successful side. And a lot of it is team spirit real in it togetherness that brings the best out of individual players

I didn’t think you were blaming supporters. We were given a football lesson irrespective of managers players coaches etc by a team way way above us . It’s quite normal if we look at the history of playing upper tier sides. No one likes to lose but we have to be pragmatic at times.

 

Just seen the highlights and shocking defending from us. Especially the second-ball watching!!

 

It sounds like Hughes is focused on the main objective this season. Whilst a cup run would've been good, I'd rather us concentrate on the league. If we learnt anything from the game, it's how to play out from back effectively. Just on that point, the amount of investment needed just to compete at the bottom of the championship, will be mind blowing.

 

It's all if, buts and maybes but missed out an trip to Goodison.

Got to feel for Middlesbrough fans, 4 rounds all away. Their fixtures will be Exeter away on the Tuesday then Plymouth away in the Saturday. Bonus loyalty points for any Middlesbrough fan that makes both journeys.

The draw is done in alphabetical order for yesterday's game then alphabetical for the home teams today so if we were in the draw we would have been number 1

 

If he was really only focused on promotion he wouldn't have risked our star striker just days after rushing him back.

Thankfully he seems to have got through it ok but another injury in that game would have been an absolute disaster.
