    He's awful.

He scored 12 goals for Colchester then the next season he was injury prone and the Colchester terminated his contract.

Then joins Stevenage scores 13 goals and then scores 3 before moving to us.

    He's a 1 in 5 man in his career overall .. he's poor.

Too early to judge, although first impressions are of a panic buy to cover out going players. Scores at about 1 in 3 for his last two clubs so does have goals in him. Wait till i see him play for a prolonged period before basing my full opinion of him.

I suspect he won't be on the biggest of wages and the undisclosed fee wouldn't have been that much, in which case he was probably signed as backup for Donaldson and Novak. It looks like Novak is our main forward now and the 36-year-old Donaldson, who has only recently returned from injury, is unlikely to be able to play two lots of 90 minutes during the busy periods at this stage of his career.

The other thing to remember is that Vaughan was only loaned out. When he returns in the summer we will have him and Novak (who won't be cheap given his pedigree at a higher level) on the books. Even if Donaldson retires, it is an inefficient use of wages to have three big hitting strikers on the books - as we found out with Doyle - and we needed to plump the attacking options out a little once we let Patrick leave for Carlisle. In effect Guthrie is the replacement for Patrick, just he is more of a unit, which is what we needed in truth.
