That's a bit early, can't he wait 'til after the game....?

 

In terms of new signings:

O'Donnell - looked good, good distribution and communication

Riley - our best player on the night. Really good going forward. Not tested defensively.

O'Connor - solid. Looks like the nasty bastard we've been missing.

Wright - tidy, good effort that hit the bar.

Isherwood - unconvincing to say the least.

Wood - disappointing. For his crossing ability, he didn't attempt one all night. Got caught out defensively a few times too.

Centre midfield trialist - looked tidy, always showing for the ball. However, would be disappointed to sign him for more than the development squad. First team needs better.

GK trialist - looked like we'd brought sattelmaier back.

On a side note, Vincelot was abysmal. Legs well and truly gone.

 

I thought the friendly was tomorrow?. If so, it doesn't clash with England game.

 

Does anyone bother about the results of any pre season games? Surely it's a time for game time and trying to get a feel for the best side/formation for when the season starts.

 

Was tempted as I’ve been the last two pre seasons but not tonight. Set of robbing bastards as @BCAFC LEE says plus I’ve got cold ones in the fridge and a World Cup semi to watch.

 

A few thoughts, feel free to rip to pieces

First half ok, neat and tidy without threatening, played 4_4_1_1 Mccarten behind wyke. A lot of one touch in midfield. Wright was ok, an improvement on law but neds to reign in the gerrard passes. Kilgallon doesnt miss headers

Second half poor and scrappy and lots of mistakes, as expected from younger side played 4-4-2, brunker and Jones. Jones brilliant for 10 mins and faded. Bruenker nothing changes, defence was a mess, devine, mcgowan, isherwood and wood. Mistakes and tangles aplenty. Hudson was good going sideways, but hold much hope for vince and devine

 

Wasn't at the game, but Vincelot doesn't surprise me. Anyone who thought he was just out of form obviously didn't watch him last season, he was always several steps off the play, that's far more than just a loss of form there's no way back for him.

 

Left Back position looks weak atm. We have Chicksen who is fairly average and a complete punt as his competition. We should have just paid the extra 15k for Leigh.

 

I see Bolton have given Guiseley a right drubbing. Just goes to show you what can happen in pre season games when you have a proper experienced manager in charge.

He's not an experienced manager though is he? Cmon -this is his first ever game in charge as a manager. He's being positive, excited and is probably nervous as hell. Nervous as hell, because he knows our fickle fans will be on his back regardless. Having a go at a new manager, trying to be positive, BEFORE the game has even kicked off. Pfff.

Perhaps he should be taking the players over to Germany, getting them all pissed up, being all pally pally on the karoke stage. That'd be a much better prep for the season ahead. Worked wonders last season

He is doing us a favour by providing updates from the game.

fear not everyone - we still have Omari Patrick to bolster the ranks. he'll be like a new signing!

 

How much effort did you have to put in to be offended by that?

 

Meaningless game result wise, just get some fitness and hope for no injuries. Although I'm sure some will have a meltdown if we lose, happens every year.

 

But he's wearing long sleeves under Armour in this weather. The weirdo.
