Guiseley friendly - lost 2-1

Probably a shite turn out. Who organises a friendly at the same time as a world cup semi final?

Having said that, I'll probably go, looking forward to seeing Riley, Wood and Akpan tbh.

A typical 1st friendly display, I reckon. No real conviction - just a 90 minute kick-about (For 'fitness purposes' ). A poorly supported event, but neither side was to know England would also be playing.

Early pre-season fayre, and little will be said of it, post match. Particularly if England Win !

I thought the friendly was tomorrow?. If so, it doesn't clash with England game.

 

Not sure now - doubt in my mind !

Yet either way, me, my family and friends will be watching the France game, tomorrow.

Meaningless game result wise, just get some fitness and hope for no injuries. Although I'm sure some will have a meltdown if we lose, happens every year.

 

It will be interesting to see what formation he starts with.

Not a fan of friendlies personally, but a set of positive results are always good to take into the season.

 

Collins was saying its not just a run out for the players he wants them to get into a winning mentality from the word go.

 

Normally i'd agree but Collins has certainly talked the talk prior to this fixture and is leaving himself open for heavy criticism if we fail to perform, which is a poor move imo. Judging by his comments, expect the players to be giving it absolutley everything.

 

I'd not seen his comments until after I posted it, not sure why he's bigging it up to be honest adds unnecessary pressure to perform in a pointless game, human nature says to me that the players won't be performing to the level he wants.

Even after his comments though I stand by this game has no reflection on what is likely to happen this season, we can win every game and get hammered first game of the season and vice versa.

 

Agree. I did mention the exact same thing on another platform. I love his attitude but I get the feeling his comments could come back to bite him on the arse. Experienced manages very rarely big up pre season friendlies and for good reason.
