Agreed. Getting the correct blend, i.e. a few leaders to join the fist pumpers like McGowan and Reeves, is far more vital that what the budget is

Some seem obsessed with what the funds available are. Unless it's say more than 30% above or below say the 20 of the other 23, then it's irrelevant

If you think we can do better, with our current set up and expectation then you're deluded. We need a manager that can hit the ground running and for that they need to have an advantage over the other ones, which Grayson will have simply during the last ten seasons at the level we're aiming for (play-offs of L1 to respectability in The Championship) he's ticked every box

Any fan daft enough to judge him on this spell and hence think he's rubbish, is probably one who thought Jewell and Parky should have been got rid of in April 1998 and 2012 respectively - after equally uninspiring first part seasons. However, I backed both as they had made subtle changes to the attitude of the players, which would become their blueprint for future successes

As for the entertaining footie Stuart gave us. This season I can only think of the Bristol Rovers and Oxford matches that justify the tag. Donny Rovers for instance, spent 80 minutes in an abject lesson of incompetent finishing. And it was great to see us attacking Fleetwood - problem is we lost 3-0.

I remember everyone sticking it up to Parky and saying glad that his rubbish footie had gone, but some us did point out even though it was nicer to watch - it rarely got you out of L1

No teams with our budget play riveting footie. Preston fans were more than happy with what Grayson delivered, yet some want to write him off simply because he is one of a dozen Sunderland managers to fail under their hostile regime

Yeah, but you can’t really compare the two. Welsh has only started 14 games and come on as a sub 5 times (19 appearances) in 2yrs.

Hardly the same as signing someone who played every minute of every game for his previous club

The wishy-washy fantasy of 'good' football never really appealed to me. Unfortunately, the atmosphere has been dead as a doornail for the vast majority of Stuart's tenure (and it's carried on under Grayson), and I think actually the poor running of the club combined with the sacking of a legend has been the perfect excuse for many to quit on the club.

What brought fans in was success; nothing more, nothing less. Phil Parkinson brought unparalleled success in his time at City, and that was represented in terms of crowd numbers. Many said it was the cheap season tickets, but it doesn't look like it now, does it?

People WANTED to watch Phil Parkinson's Bradford City - absolutely no doubt about it - but some were convinced the football was a turn off. No, pretty football is irrelevant. Effective football is infinitely more important, and I agree that Grayson can potentially bring that. It's not a guarantee, of course, but I hope he can.

Trust me, if he gets us promoted playing long ball, we'll sell out next season, or damn close to it.

"Entertainment" isn't freeflowing, ineffective football. "Entertainment" is blood and thunder and winning accolades.

I guess "entertainment" is subjective Jon. Take Tuesday night for example. For 50 odd minutes i was bored absolute shitless bar watching the mercurial Oztumer, then we bring Gibson on. That spell of 20 minutes or so after that was for me the best spell of football we had played for ages, players moving and wanting the ball. Also got what was left of a crowd on their feet.
