Wtf yorath as a coach was the sole reason we romped the third division in 1985. It went tits up after he left, ok cherry had mitigation but without yorath he would never have won that league.

Jackson was washed up when he came back and yorath was no good on his own, but as a coach to cherry and later Jewell (and jacko at the dogs) he was incomparable

Docherty was frigging awful and Taylor almost took us out of the league

How on earth anyone wants him to stay is beyond me.

 

Having listened to that interview, I'd be very surprised if he stays.

 

True, he was poor on his own for us but as a coach he took us up 85 and 99, played a part in us staying up and took Huddersfield up. As a a national coach for wales and Lebanon he did reasonably well.

 

Yes, but you need to make allowances for the first few matches (until after Blackpool) when the issue was clearly the prima donnas on the pitch. What we’ve seen since Blackpool isn’t great but give him his own budget and let him have a go.

The alternative which is another six weeks of uncertainty is not an option (unless parky comes back).

My support for him is based on the fact that he inherited a shambles with players ruling the roost. He’s seemingly sorted that. Remember cloughs experience when he took over at Leeds ? Our “player revolt” at their love of the former manager isn’t dissimilar.

This would be all academic if he’d had even a week of the transfer window (or the emergency loan window) to operate in.

 

Even so he was ten times the manager that docherty was. You must have been young when the doc was here to not realise it was the worst football seen at vp in 50 years. Bar none

 

I’m butting out because you’ll never ever win any argument by saying the doc had a bad spell at the end. The whole of the docs spell was a living nightmare made worse by his style. His football made Parkinson and Graysons style look like Brazil circa 1970. Awful awful long ball stuff

 

Two wins in ten matches. Forget what points he had after fleetwood. He won two league matches in his last ten. All the other points did was stop up getting relegated. He had to go.
