I think we should be trying to keep Grayson for next season, let him build his own team with his own players. A manager can put a system in place, but the players gave up at Christmas and you can only utilise what you have. I'd be comfortable letting Grayson having a transfer window with the contacts he has in and around the championship and I can't see that he'd put up with the crap we had in January.

I’m not a McCall lover but what you are saying is that shit players in August September October November December were just bloody lucky?
this maybe a thought, put Vincelot in as the right sided centre half, that might work.

Not seen a feasible answer to that question on here since Grayson decided to join us

Apparently McCall kept telling the players they were over performing before Christmas.

Yes. I've always felt that we've had a very limted squad which was punching above their weight, even when they were doing well results wise. The signs were there: shocking home form, leaking goals at the back, too reliant on Wyke, very few games where we had outplayed the opposition and a threadbare squad to boot. The only people who thought that we had good quality, playoff worthy squad are those who had their heads buried in the sand and refused to see the bigger picture.'

Jury's still out for me after today's game.

We offered nothing on the left of the park today, Gary Lund looked lost out there. At the least, why didn't Gilliead and Lund swop over a bit. When we had Nicky Law on the bench, who can play on the left, it seemed bizarre.

Hit and hope towards the forrads in the first half was pretty grim.

Dropping Gilliead to right back was unexpected when we were chasing the game.

However, he's had the chance to assess the players now. I hope he has the gravitas to tell the owners exactly what we need, and who should go.

This season was gone when he took over, and I don't actually think he has that much to work with. Losing Tyrell Robinson has reduced our options further.

A lopsided squad that needs a big overhaul. I'd let him direct this.

I dont buy this. I gave evidence by saying we were averaging 1.85 points a game until McMahon went in a huff, Luke left and we had no fit fullbacks in our squad (Thanks Edin). We failed to give Stuart the necessity's a top six team required. Yes our confidence went but Grayson has had 10 weeks to sort. And unlike McCall he has had fit fullbacks to choose from.

I dont buy into McCall deserved the sack as it was his responsibility to find a formula with no fit full backs yet Grayson gets a pass with a fit squad to pick from. A bit unfair.

If anyone thinks McCall had the final say on recruitment then they are deluded. If Grayson is here next season he must get this. As this season we have had a decent first 11, but a terrible squad. No competition unlike last season.

The truth is under McCall we had a decent first 11 that were playing as a team, and on new years day were 8 points above Rotherham with same games played. We needed belief, but Edin failed to deliver after promises of recruitment if we were anywhere near top 6.

Grayson is a good manager all be it a bit hoof and boring. The season failures lies at 1 mans door despite many blaming the players. Kilgallon after Rotherham was nearly crying on the radio for our chairman to finish his game of poker. Think he said it was a proper league we were in! That said it all. The fans that day certainly made their feeling known. Edins game of poker was a winning hand for who? Certainly not us!

Thanks Edin, you certainly fecked up big time. Now if Grayson is the man to lead us next season, please forget the head of football and concentrate making sure theres toilets paper in the toilets.

It’s all well and good mentioning poor home performances. What about all great away victories. The point is it perhaps could have been predicted that we might fall away a bit but the total capitulation could not have been sen even from some of the soothsayers on here

Seems to me you are criticising Grayson's tactical decisions, (fair enough) but then supporting the decision to appoint him full time in the summer. Confused of Bradford.

Sorry Tawheed, the original question is about Grayson, and he’s done nothing with the same bunch of players. Championship manager, not for me.

To an extent yes But I'm of the opinion we haven't currently got the players, hence employing some tactics which appear questionable.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and hope he can be given the chance to form a more balanced squad.

Got the tactics spot on against Pompey. Losing Guy and Robinson today didn’t help. Injuries have been one of the big stories of the season for us. Plus Rochdale are a better team than many give credit recent wins at Peterborough and at home to Shrewsbury underline it

A better team? They are in the bottom four FFS, stop making excuses up. Take that keeper howler out from Lillis and we have Laws shot as reward for an afternoons efforts. It simply is not good enough. Rochdale deserved the win today, they were the better team and had more desire to win. We got very lucky to come away with a point.

A year ago tomorrow, this team won 3-0 at Home to wimbledon. This was a typical setup that had not lost at home all season.

    Doyle
    McMahon
    McArdle
    Vincelot
    Meredith
    Cullen
    NKP
    Marshall
    Law
    Wyke
    Jones

Who did we replace McArdle with?
Who did we replace Meredith with?
Who did we replace Marshall with?
Who did we replace Cullen with?

That 4 quality players from 11. Who maybe were on decent wages but replaced with players of inferior quality, That was always asking for trouble. Despite this we managed to get to the transfer window 2017/18 gasping for air and on new years day still managed a points per game of 1.85. Well inside the play offs too. Rotherham at the time were not even a challenge to us. Edin (remember him) that week came out with we are pushing for the top two.

    Short memories some.

Everyone could see we were punching above our weight apart from 1 man. Who thought we were under performing. It was clear as day we did not have a backup squad. And despite both chairmen saying purse string would be untied they fell way way short.

I dont blame McCall, I dont blame the players and I dont blame Grayson.

Only one man is to blame and thats our head of football. We all seen this coming. If not in the first day of the season then definitely on the first day of the January window.

But hey ho. It was just a game of poker for him. And as he said its how tough you are.

How anyone can blame Grayson for the player downing tools FOR 3 WHOLE MONTHS is beyond me.I

I f##king hate this team, for that I lay the blame squarely at the owners, McCall, Abbott.

    The Germans haven't got a scooby-boo.

Still all Shite things come to an end. P45s coming for the players.

    Build his own team...

Seriously haven't you been watching us play?

Even town fans say his football is dire and that was about 10 years ago he was managing them.

His tactics and style of play is something from the 70's or something(not that I was around then)!but no, no, no would I let him build a team Everyone in the ground would be asleep

He is yesterday's man. He needs to go.

To me there’s a bigger issue here.

Most people seem to be in agreement that Edin fecked it up in January one way or another and the players have pretty much given up since.

McCall should never have been sacked because at least they were playing for him and I think that once he got some fit fullbacks for example he’d have been our best chance of turning it around. Sacking him just made the whole situation worse. Again, cheers Edin.

Whether Grayson stays or not will tell us a lot.

If he stays then it indicates that Edin has wound his neck in but also that we have a competitive budget. If he doesn’t stay then Edin is blatantly still being an arse and the budget is tiny.

We got a point against a team who have had good results lately. We may have had a bit of luck something we have had precious little of this season. Nobody is saying everything is rosy but results are improving and with three home games on the trot time to put more on the board
