No, they would have definitely have moved their love child rugby club down from Odsal then, and pumped even more cash in to prop them up.

It has been empty for the past 10 years, even when the Bulls are playing at home.
The place is a dump, i know as i went to a few music concerts there last summer. even the most modern part. the corporate stand behind the goal is wrecked, i was in there with a VIP pass, makes our suites look like the ritz.

Rent for Valley Parade increases to £500k next season for the last 5 years of the current lease.

Gibb does hold all the aces in my opinion. I cannot see a very wealthy individual waiting in the wings willing to buy out Rupp and finance the building of a new stadium.

Basically the Pension Fund and City both need each other. It is good that relations now seem to be cordial. Hopefully that will lead to successful negotiations that suit both parties.

Arguing and sulking with your landlord is never a good thing. City entered into this agreement, knowing full well the implications. The Rhodes family are very wealthy, why did they not buy the stadium from the adminstration, especially after their premier league share pay out. No captain cautious would never risk his own money.

We do not need a new stadium, just this one back in the clubs hands and the a bit of money spent on renovation and maintenance.. The ground is perfect where it is, easy walking distance to Train station , bus routes and all the bars etc on North parade. Who in their right minds wants to go to a soulless concrete bowl on the outskirts of Bradford, where you are a captive audience and have to accept the offerings , or do without. Where is this new stadium going to be built?
The only advantage to Odsal is that it is next to the m606 , so everyone can get out of Bradford as quickly as possible.

    Absolutely!!
The club need a ground and VP despite all its failings is our home where memories good and bad remain
Should the club pull out and miraculously find a new home the pension fund would be left with a stadium no one wants and a near worthless piece of land so it's a game of cat and mouse between Mr Gibb and Mr Sparks I know who will blink first
Odsal is not a consideration complete souless dump in my opinion

Back channels with Gibb are nothing new. James Mason and Gordon Gibb engaged in correspondence away from the Northern Commercial Stadia respectively.

Exactly. The FLPF has a worthless asset without us as their tenant. They might be able sell it for some other use but the costs of making good of the site would almost wipe out any sale value. On the other hand, we need a stadium in which to play our football; no stadium, no football, no club! There are of course other potential options - Odsal(!), Horsfall, short term ground sharing, Rupp winning the Eurolottery to fund a new stadium but none appear viable to me. The only one with any credibility would be to extend the current deal but that has its own issues of affordability.

Gibb and Ryan will both know that they'll have to get around the table to resolve the problem .. which it goes without saying, is a joint one!

I too would hate to move away from my 2nd home Valley Parade. That's why I say Gibb holds all the cards though in any negotiations to extend the lease or consider selling the ground

What I think we need for our long term future is a buy back scheme. If GG will go for that is anybody’s guess. We need to get our heads round the fact it will be expensive. Let’s say we have paid £11 million over the last 20 years and will pay a further £2.5 million in the remaining years. We come up with an agreed figure with Gibb and depending on what he wants, we pay that over an agreed term. That is the best deal But……..the alternative is to continue with paying rent. He on behalf of the Pension Fund could legitimately say the stadium is not for sale. It is an asset we are not prepared to sell. The alternative is finding somewhere else to play, something that would make me very sad indeed. It’s home. The expense would be enormous. I put the Euro Lottery on every week in the hope that if I win first on the agenda is to try and negotiate a buy back of our stadium.

The biggest question in this is whether the pension fund is the family pension fund for the benefit of only the owners & directors of the Flamingoland Resort or is it the "bog standard" pension fund for the employees (or a mixture of both). I pose this question, because I have no idea which it is.

If it's the former, there comes a point where it ceases to require income as all the beneficiaries have reached pension age (ie GG & Family) and they start to draw down from it. At that point it can dispose of the income bearing asset and draw off the value and in theory will sell back to us. Gordon Gibb is 45 and by a long way the youngest of the registered owners. In theory if this is the case, he and/or the pension fund no longer need the asset after the date he retires assuming it has enough value to fund it's people for the rest of their lives.

If its the latter, it needs income in perpetuity to fund fund future pensions of all the employees still in it (and those who will join in the future) and will never sell as long as this is the case.

Perhaps so-one can clarify if it's owners are just the Gibb family or the entire FL workforce.

It's registered as an SSAS which can only have a max of 11 beneficiaries. Have a guess of the surname of most of the fund's beneficiaries! ;)

Which potentially is good news. GG is the youngest so the whole thing could cease in the next 25 years.

Sorry onside, i am winning the euromillions, stadium would be back in our own hands and fully developed with a midland road height stand wrapping around the Bradford end to join the main stand.
    You can only dream.
