In my view you should always try and help people. However there are consequences.

People have talked about Jamie Lawrence and George Mulhall. They certainly appear to have turned their lives round.

However going back to a place where a problem arose, is not necessarily helpful.

Paul Taylor had quite a lot of talent and it is a shame that he is not with us, if he had managed to deal with his difficulties.

So would you suggest the club seek to give Green another chance, when it could go very wrong once again, or that it is now too far a jump for him to catch up?

If he suffers with mental health problems then our club is most certainly not the best place for him.

Yes I believe this kid should be given another chance, @Idlebantam@Idlebantam makes several comments about him changing, "talking about his mental health issues he has suffered since he was 17 years old, "and how he finally sought professional help", "he's impressing at Nuneaton" "he's still only 22 and settled with a young family now", but finally "George says that he is now ready mentally to step back up into full time football and still has a lot to offer".
Yes as I posted it would be a situation both parties would have to sit down and thrash out if his talent is worth the risk, IMO we have little to lose if the contract is worded correctly and the first signs of him going back to his old ways the contract is terminated.
Not sure what your suggesting with your George Mulhall comment, @StaffordBantam@StaffordBantam made this comment "I remember a player, blew multiple chances with several clubs and was written off as a footballer. That is until George Mulhall gave him one more chance" he was obviously relating that comment to Big Bobby Campbell who had a reputation for being a bit of a rebel during his career, but George Mulhall gave Bobby his "last chance" and he became the cult hero of all Bradford City fans around that era and until his recent death, if given a chance George could achieve half of what Bobby did I'd be delighted, but we will never know unless sum team give him another chance.

I think it would probably be better for all concerned, if he went to another club.

Sometimes a totally fresh start, where you do not have a ‘history’, is a better platform.

Hope he achieves well, maintains stability and is able to have a happy, constructive and prosperous life.

Yes I can understand that comment, but after the way our season has panned out with our luck another team would take the risk and the kid would be a success :(.

I think we have too many players on our books at the moment. My comments are in the ‘players out of contract’ thread.

With you on this one @Bronco@Bronco give the lad a chance. Word the contract properly and then it works for both parties. If he's really sorted himself out then he will want to make it work, if he hasn't we show him the door. Bags of talent, just needs applying. Surely he fits into the "young with potential resale value" category.

No harm in taking a look at him in pre season and if he wants it bad enough he will have to prove it. Sometimes it's better going to a club you know as it could help him settle down better , and who knows he just might rediscover the talent he has.

If if hadn't started off for us, and he didn't have the "next big thing" tag on him, would be even be discussing him? Surely anyone with a bit of talent can look good at Nuneaton? We don't exactly have a good track record with non league players, so I presume we'd just be dismissing him - if he wasn't from the local area.

Your above is fair comment @TallinnBantam@TallinnBantam , but he is just the type of player that fits the new owner model, get em young still 22, develop them, I'd suggest he is further down the development line than Patrick, Hanson and possibly Robinson, Everton were obviously happy to pay the fee we wanted at the time, and Spurs would have been happy to pay more but Archie Christie said going to Everton was the best option, in hindsight he maybe got that wrong, offer the right incentive it could work for both parties.

We'd be better off paying for some studio time and get him to remake boats and hoes and take a percentage of the royalties.

Speaking as someone whose had (albeit slight) mental health issues, and fully put my life back on track, I find your comments offensive and total bollocks

Dave, I know you are the reliable oracle but on this one, you are not quite right. I was at the Board Meeting when we discussed the offers for George from Spurs and Everton. You are right that the higher was from Spurs but it was Julian Rhodes and not Archie who felt that given George`s background of down to earth Yorkshire against the bright lights and temptations of London, the North was better for a more grounded future, even though the Club lost out on the transfer fee. As a Board we totally agreed that the lad's wellbeing came first and that if he flourished we would do better in the longer term. Future transfer fees being the carrot.

I thought it was Archie but accept your comment, I thought at the time Everton was the best move for George but when talking to a guy who'd driven George to training that day during his pre season trail at Rawdon Meadows he told me of the situation at Everton and "The Lodge" where the young kids stayed and how the situation got out of hand for George
He and others were apparently leaving The Lodge on a night and partying when they should have been tucked up in bed, his choice no one made him go partying but at that age I would think he thought he could handle it.
I'd still like to see him given another chance even though his past suggests he may not have learnt, if he was brought back to his childhood club if Grayson stays I could not think of anyone better to keep the lad on the straight and narrow, with the exception of Phil Parkinson ?.
I assumed it was Archie's dealings after reading articles like this.

Christie, who passed away in January last year, was the driving force behind the then 15-year-old’s move from Valley Parade to Everton.
But I bow to your knowledge as you were at that board meeting.

PS. In your opinion do you think the club would be interested in bringing him back to Valley Parade as he falls into the owners model, get em young develop them and sell them on for a profit ?.
