I think it's a changing of peoples attitude but I think people are starting to resell clothes. Depop is a new one to me and it is rammed with vintage/worn clothes!

I’ve seen the videos of lone white men beaten to a pulp by gangs of black people from that Saturday.(This won’t get reported by the MSM)

Akala that I mentioned earlier does a lot of outreach work in inner city schools all over the world to try and keep young black boys on the straight and narrow. Also no shortage of ex gang members who run programs to try and keep black youth on the right track. Also I know of a youtube sunday league team that does a lot of work in its local area with young lads to keep them off a violent path. A lot of hard work goes into eradicating gang culture, but until you tackle the root causes of poverty and poverty of aspiration it'll be a self repeating cycle. there are also white areas with identical issues and yet no white people protest about that?

I’d add the dynamic of the nuclear family as well, or at least the predominance of single parent families in black communities. That must be a factor in the poverty/crime equation.

Good on those trying to tackle these issues. I’m not saying that nobody is doing anything about it. I’m saying it doesn’t feature at all in the BLM movement. There’s no self reflection angle at all, everything is about victimisation.

As we've said before it's all interconnected. child grows up with few role models, therefore doesnt have anything to look up to. is treat poorly by CJS and police which reinforces the lack of belief in themselves as anything but criminal. leaves school with few qualifications, is easy pickings for older gang members to manipulate into feeling like they're valued and part of something. becomes sociopath who then does the same to the next generation provided they aren't dead or in jail. easy to see the cycle but I dont think there's a one size fits all answer here. I may be a bit soft hearted but I firmly believe a lot of these kids do just need someone to believe in them and tell them to aim high in life because I don't think that gets said to them enough.

I don’t disagree at all. A far more complex socio-economic and cultural weave than a simple case of systemic racism.

I think thats a big factor but certainly not the only one. I think in the US there's definitely an industry thats been built on criminalising black people and putting them in prison unjustly, but over here its a more complex picture for sure.

Again its my pretty firm belief we need to tackle these issues with positive measures rather than punitive.

I think that’s part of the problem. Far too many people have taken an over simplistic view and lumped our problems in with the US. Very different landscapes, histories, cultures.

A big reason for me why these protests have been global is the fact the video of Mr Floyd's murder was so widely seen on the internet, this wouldn't have had the impact it did had we been pre internet. America has a much more overtly troubled history around race than ourselves in many ways, but I do think its a good chance to press the reset button on a lot of things that probably need it, same as with covid and the economy.

Will Smith made a very good point that racism in america isn't getting worse, it's just getting recorded.

Until the black communities learn the power and value of education they will struggle to achieve the equalities they seek because it unlocks the potential of the individual, School surveys show them at the bottom of the charts behind Asian and White pupils and this is reflected in employment opportunities and outcomes,

I know a lot on here deride the Mail on Sunday, but check out the article by a 24 year old black political commentator called Esther Krakue.

It's a good read, amongst the things she writes about is the fact that she dared question the aims of Black Lives Matter, and ended up getting the worst racist abuse she has ever suffered from supporters of this movement.

She is also alarmed that the BLM UK group appears determined to spend money they have raised on Marxist initiatives including the abolition of police.

The group also says it will organise a bid to secure 'Black Liberation', whatever that means, here. She suggests the resources would be better dedicated to freeing the Sub-Saharan Africans who are enslaved in many North African and Middle Eastern countries.

As I say, a good read and measured article from a young black journalist
