The Problem is Antifa have infiltrated the BLM campaign , they don't care about the cause , they care about creating disrupution in the day to day lives of ordainary folk . They then jump back in their Chelsea tractors and feck off back home to Mama and Papa .

 

If you think about how all this started to where we are now then none of it makes any sense to any right minded person...

D'you know, for all it matters you could be purple with pink polka dots! This is a case where the anonymity of the internet is a good thing. Granted some members here know each other personally, some have posted photos of themselves here, and a handful do know my real name and thus could without too much difficulty find out more about me. But on the whole, we are just words on screens to each other, and can be judged more by the words than other factors. It's always nice when others agree with one's words, but there are no guarantees. As one of our members has it in the signature line -- KopKred is it? -- it is a mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain an opinion without adopting it. Overall it has been a good, thought-provoking thread, thanks to the variety of information and opinions being posted.

The number of memorials and statues to the nazis in Germany stands at 0, and nobody has forgotten anything about what went on. You don't need a statue for education, that's what books are for. Nobody's advocating for burning books or destroying knowledge, what they are saying is stop teaching people the white centric we did nothing but good version of history we get taught and actually talk about everything these guys did and not just the good stuff. I think people who want a statue that only refers to someone like Colston as a 'wise and virtuous man' without even mentioning anything else to be the ones guilty of erasing history.

 

Could easily be solved by new plaques on controversial statues with the good history and the bad history of the person for people all to see.

 

There's been some form of movement in the black community to get this done in Bristol since 1998 but nothing happened. Interesting how all these folks who care about airbrushing history so much have been very quiet on this

 

The Bristol council has been run by Labour/lib dems since the early 1980's and the now has a labour Mayor.

These people are to blame,the bristol mayor was on tv a couple of days ago and asked why nothing done about the statue in the last 4 years in office,only answer he could give was,he's been busy.(The mayor is black).

 

This is an interesting point because councils are more stretched than they've ever been with all the austerity cuts to staff and priorities have to be made. To set up a sub-committee to decide about statues could be heavily criticised and accused of being a waste of valuable time and resource.
